I think you could start to make some sort of explanation for all of Garner's other quesionable moves this postseason. There was absolutely no excuse for putting Miceli in to face Pujols, Rolen, and Edmonds when you have Oswalt and Lidge ready. Absolutely no excuse.

Another fallacy... maybe if its the 5th inning... but it was the 8th, and Wheeler had already thrown 3 innings (which was probably his season high).

That was Lidge's spot right there to lose...

Ok. Maybe Garner didn't put Lidge in because he has so much faith in our bats.

Let's go 'Stros! To steal Buck's line, 'Drop the mutherf'n hammer!'

Beltran, Bagwell, Berkman to lead off the 9th, there's still a shot...

The fifth inning has killed us both games...plain and simple if we have to bring in a reliever then we are screwed....it's sad.....MAN i have Suite tickets to game 5...you better make it to a game 5 people.

Miceli, Qualls, and Gallo should pitch Homerun Derby next All-Star Game.

You mean Beltran and Berkman. Bags is an automatic out. The best you can hope for is he doesn't hit into a double-play.

Exactly what I said... the ONLY reason I can see him doing this was because he was burned in extra innings last week in Atlanta by not having Lidge to close the game.

But, you never get to extra innings without him in the first place...

Worst managing decision ever made in the history of the game, period, end of statement.

There is no justifiable reason to not put in Lidge to face the meat of the Cardinals lineup. NONE!

    First 2 games:
    - Crap defense
    - Subpar baserunning
    - Worthless bullpen
    - Stranding runners in scoring position
    - A r****d manager
I'm probably leaving something else incredibly bad out.

I might be insane for expecting the Astros to win these two.

    DIE MICELI!

    GET A BRAIN, GARNER!

Garner will be brought back because of the big come back this season, but you can't tell me he knows what he is doing right now. Explain why you bother getting Oswalt up to pitch? What is the point of bringing Wheeler into the on-deck circle in the 8th? I think he is struggling and the Astros are turning a winnable game into a loss because of these bonehead moves.

Funny enough... Jimy would have made all the "right" moves this game. (If I go by his clockwork decisions that he always made in his 3 years here)

    Okay, I take that back...

    No, No, and no.

The postseason roster has 11 pitchers.

Four starters- Roy, Rocket, Backe, Munro

Then we've got Lidge, Harville, Qualls, Miceli, Springer, Wheeler, and Gallo. With Harville and Wheeler used, we had the choices of Miceli, Qualls, Springer, Gallo, or Lidge for the 8th.
