If Jeff Kent had been on 2nd base to receive the double play throw from Ensberg we would be a lot more positive with our discussion.
If you keep on thinking that, then its your confidence that's shaky. The only thing I've seen is that the law of averages is taking its course. A Munro start is never a quality one... a Morris start is never a quality one... and Astros-Cardinals games are normally decided in the late innings. This is EXACTLY what you should expect from this matchup.
If the ump is going to call that first pitch to Bagwell a strike (it looked about 8 inches foot outside), there is no way Bagwell's going to have a good at bat. He's gonna have to chase stuff outside and more than likely hit one off the end of the bat or get busted inside. In general I don't think the ump has been favoring either team, just terribly inconsistent in his calls.
What the hell has Munro done for you before tonight that makes him "deserve" to get a chance? That inning alone, he gave up a walk, homer, and line-drive that almost took his head off. (btw, Jimy would have hooked him after the walk) Meanwhile, Harville, Wheeler, and Gallo have gotten you out of jams the entire freaking year. If you "knew" that Munro would be throwing a shutout into the 5th tonight, let me give you my financial profile and you go make me rich.
Given that non-call to Wheeler, I'd have change my statement and say that the inconsistency has definitely favored the Cardinals. I'm not trying to imply this is why the Astros are losing, since clearly they haven't taken advantage of their chances and still haven't found a way to avoid the big inning by the Cards. On the positive side, Wheeler didn't give in and came back with a similar pitch for the K.
I honestly believe that Kiko Calero is the BEST pitcher in their bullpen. We've NEVER hit him EVER! (since 2002) EDIT: lets change that... add on.
time to make some hits!!!! Berkman with the leadoff double! Tieing run in scoring position!! WHOOOTTTTT!!!!
Thats not a Garner move. Time for some Qualls action next inning. Please score some runs. Please score some runs. Please score some runs.
