A must win for the Astros. if they lose tonight there is no way they will win 4 out of 5 from the Cards. Astros 8 Cards 7 Munro 3IP 4 runs 3 walks (if he last longer than 3 thats a miracle)
Gosh I hope we dont have to play tonight! It would set up the roation perfectly! The only bad thing is that they would play tomorrow and I'm supposed to be going to the Jay Z and R Kelly concert! Anyways, there's an 80% chance of rain tonight....if tonight gets rained out, it's definitely in our favor. Thurs 10/14 Rain Out Game 2 Friday 10/15 Clemens on 4 days rest Game 3 Saturday 10/16 oswalt on 4 days rest Game 4 Sunday 10/17 Munro on 2 weeks rest haha *Game 5 Monday 10/18 Backe on 4 days rest Tuesday 10/19 Travel Day *Game 6 Wednesday 10/20 Clemens on 4 days rest *Game 7 Thursday 10/21 Oswalt on 4 days rest * If necessary
See the current weather for yourself: http://www.stlcc.cc.mo.us/distance/media/roofcam.html Looks drizzly, but not a downpour.
http://www.crh.noaa.gov/data/forecasts/MOZ063.php?warncounty=MOC189&city=Saint+Louis Late Afternoon: Periods of rain. Chance of precipitation is 90%. High near 49. West wind around 11 mph. Tonight: Occasional rain, mainly before midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Low around 43. West wind between 9 and 11 mph.
lol. Regardless, we have to pitch Munro at sometime. Although, I'd rather him go Game 4 at home...followed by Cy Backe on full rest.
The prospect of lining up our pitching staff with Clemens going in game 2 is fantastic! Pitching Munro at home sounds fine to me. Spahn and Sain and pray for rain! Hey, it's been done before!!
The Cards are going to find a way to get this game played. What we need are some t-storms instead of showers.
Yeah, that's what concerns me. I think the Cards and Fox will play this game in showers. Of course, if it's been raining all day, the umps could argue that it's too dangerous to play on a soggy field. Right?
Yeah I could look it up, but im too lazy.....does the field there even have a roof? From what I've heard I'd say no, but I just wanted to double check. Pugs
I'm thinking the opposite. I'm thinking the Fox guys aren't gonna rain delay this game too far out of primetime. More than an hour, and I think they'll reschedule for the next night.
I'm not sure about that. I think the networks are loathe to reschedule these things. I have some vague memory of an MLB playoff game a while back that started at like 10 PM because they wouldn't call it. but I could be making that up. But hey -- I'd rather you be right in this case than me!
First of all, this is an MLB and Fox decision... NOT a Cardinals decision. Second of all, the fact that tommorow is a scheduled OFF DAY totally makes this situation different than the ones where teams HAVE to get the game in... as long as the weather is not bad for tommorow also (which it isn't)... this offers much flexibility in the decision making. I do, however, think they'll play... but only because the field probably drains well, and there are no big downpours on the forecast... just a light drizzle. BTW... it will be in the low 40's around 8pm... and with wind-chill, it will feel like 35. That's some sweet baseball weather.
Around the Horn guys are idiots. They're arguing that if we lose tonight, we get swept because Munro's the only pitcher who's throwing on full rest. Wilbon claimed that Oswalt and Clemens were going on three-days rest this weekend. Um, no.
this is always the problem with national sports talk show hosts. too much to keep up with to have the first clue of what's really happening.
