It is 10-4 and the Umpire needs to get home to catch the reruns of Jazzercize on the cable channel. DD
Hopefully it won't make me a "bandwagoner" to agree with you. I've been with this team every step of the way, but this has been clear for weeks now. It's why I don't expect us to win this series. I'm optimistic as a fan, but I won't be as disappointed if we lose this one as I would've been if we lost to the Braves. I think we have to average 6 runs a game to beat the Cards because of the bullpen issue.
the Jazz is a pretty good word to associate with this ump right now. it really is amazing to watch the difference between the calls. it's night and day with us getting squeezed almost every time and them getting the corners every time. it's not just inconsistency that evens out. it's getting screwed. but none of that changes the fact that qualls blew tonight.
Don't exgaggerate. The Colt 45's were extinct 7 years before you were even born. There are good fans and there are bad fans. Speaking of ball room dancing, is that what you were off doing when the Astros were turning their season around? You didn't have much to say during that time. You are a bandwagoner DaDa. Your post history and negativity speaks for itself. BTW ....when it comes to fans like you, Garner is always in a lose-lose situation. If he would have left Backe in, and Backe got hammered, then you would have gone on one of your rants. If he would have brought Harville or Wheeler in, and they got hammered, then you would have gone on one of your rants. You are a great second guesser, I'll give you that. The fact of the matter is a) Qualls has been the mid-late inning setup guy during our run. People like yourself have critisized Garner for managing differently than he had during our regular season run. b) Garner and Ausmus know better than any of us whether Backe had had enough. Its juvenile to assume we know better than he does. In Garner I trust. In Garner, we should all trust.
Qualls wasn't that bad. The pitch to Rolen was horrible. He shouldve busted him inside. After strike one on the oustide corner, you usually bust players inside otherwise they start leaning in on every pitch. The rest of those hits were flukes.
Wrath, No one in here is a bandwagoner, we are all fans. I would harbor to guess that everyone here cares passionatly for this team. Calling other fans names or bandwagoners because they have an opinion or are vocal about an opinion is ridiculous. No one cares any more than anyone else....and to whine about people because they are passionate about the game and not afraid to be a fan is ludicrous and condescending. I like reading others thoughts and realize a lot of them have emotion in them....bring em on....the more the merrier we are ALL Astros fans..... And NONE of us are bandwagoners.....especially those of us in Toronto that drove around to 2 sports bars and then paid $15 to get the MLB TV package to watch this game. I can't stand people who call other fans names because they don't have the same passion......I have a name for them myself, but it is a banned word here. DD
Regardless of the outcome i believe the balls and strikes were not called consistantly on both sides. There were some really shady pitches that were called strikes for the Cardinals pitchers.
Agreed. I have been pulling for Wheeler to get some innings, since he pitched solidly. Qualls stuff is much better than Wheeler's though.
After 23 years of watching the Astros blow game after game, Im very calm about the Astros - I expect them to lose. In 1979, When I was 8 and watched Joe Sambito walk Warren Cromartie with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, I knew, I just knew we ain't winning for awhile. You remember who was Sambito's setup man? Len Dykstra's b****- Dave Smith. Ahhh... let the good times roll... memory lane.
Born in 1964... bit of an exageration. Still....probably been watching longer than you have been alive. You're opinion, glad you have one...now unless it pertains to the topic, keep it to yourself. I was here...go back and read posts, I was saying that I was very happy but afraid to believe....again, you only focus on posts that you don't like or agree with....selective memory is a great thing, huh? Glad you are a glass is half full guy....now don't criticize others for having a different opinion. As for being a bandwagoner, that is simply ridiculous...you are just not passionate about this team, why not go get some tea and crumpets, since you don't seem to really care about the Astros. I have ALWAYS said we should go with the starters, maybe if I type slower you could understand. Dierker said it best when he said his starters are his best pitchers and you should let them pitch out of trouble.. No, it is called being a fan....and if you ever want to research it....check out the national media, they were questioning it too. Sure enough, he got us here, but questioning him is part of being a fan....not a bandwagoner but a fan.... Now go away or I shall taunt you a 2nd time ....YOUNGSTER !! DD
It's over for tonight I'm afraid. Qualls should never get off the bench after what he did on Sunday & tonight - he just sux big time. They wasted a pretty good outing from Backe and as has been their history, Biggs & Bagwell are MIA tonight. Hopefully, they'll get pissed and step up and DO something about their playoff futility. I'm not just picking on them either because Kent & Berkman also were no shows tonight. The key game will be the Clemens game. He looked just awful on 3 days rest against Atlanta and they'll probably be down 0-2 by then.
OK, let's see who remembers the Colt 45's. Pop quiz hotshots: What was the name of the stadium where the Colt 45's played and where was it located?
Okay Berkman, I guess that makes up for that crap fielding play in the first. 2-run homer by Berkman.
