Let's go 'Stros. We still have three more innings to score some runs. Unfortunately, that's also three innings for the Cards to doggy-style our bullpen.
I was watching the Astros like I have been since they were the Colt 45s....maybe you just zone in on the negative so much instead of reading all the posts. Glad you have a positive opinion......being a "fan" can be many things to many people....get off your high horse, and let fans be how they like to be. If you don't like people tossing opinions around or 2nd guessing managerial decisions, go watch ball room dancing....having an opinion and caring about your team..sometimes vocally is what it is all about. But don't dare call people bandwagoners because they have an opinion !That is juivinile to say the least, and I thought you were above that....guess not. DD
Backe was on three days rest, and he's still got another game to pitch in the series. Bring in Qualls, however, was the wrong move. He's probably our least confident reliever coming into the game, and definitely now. But, this game isn't over...this offense is certainly capable of 6 runs in 3 innings.
I know the game isn't over, but assuming we lose - look, we were supposed to lose this one. This would have been a monstrous bonus if we won it. I know Backe was going and he gives us a much better chance than Munro tomorrow, and we had a 4-2 lead, but neither one of these two are ace workhorses. We will still have Roy and Roger go 4 times in this series. The Cardinals still have to beat them. I don't want to go in an 0-2 hole coming home, but I'm not going to lose faith/heart until they beat Roger or Roy.
I dont care if Backe was at 100 pitchs, besides the pitch to woody,he still looked good. That hit walker got was beyond lucky and then they walk Poojuls which they should have done in the first.I really think Bradon could have gotten Rolen out that inning,he made him look silly the bat before.Qualls will have now cost us two games in the playoffs.. *sigh*
Our bullpen is horrible. That's what happens when you trade our closer, make our setup man the closer, trade the new closer and convert the setup man's setup to become the closer. We now have 6 long relief guys as our setup men. If we don't get 7 innings from our starters, we have no chance of winning against the Cardinals.
you're not so much a bandwagoner as an enormous flip-flopper, which can look a lot like bandwagoning, and is also annoying.
I agree. I just figured this was a great chance to steal one....Munro scares me, and we have lost a game that Clemens and Oswalt have pitched this post season. Will watch tomorrow, but it would be a major comeback to even get back in this game. DD
True, but the Cards' bullpen is actually pretty good. Hey, we just needed a split in the first two games. Maybe Munro will be one of those guys who pitches the game of his life in the playoffs. It happens to other teams, why not us?
true, that is what happens, and they are terrible, but without losing wagner we maybe don't get pettitte and obviously don't get clemens w/o pettitte and w/o losing dotel we don't have beltran. i'll do the dotel/beltran thing every day of the week and twice on sundays.
Dude, I never flip flop.....I am a realist.....I said I did not believe the Stros had a chance to get to the playoffs in August, and am glad I was wrong. It was a great run....and I am happier than hades that they beat the Bravos. Now I want the whole enchilada.....but what I can't STAND is losing a game because of poor manager decisions, and in the Braves series both games we lost had questionable decisions, and tonights as well. Garner should let the starters go a little longer UNLESS they opt out. DD
Agreed. There's still a lot of baseball left in this series. Being down 0-1 is not the end of the world.
