NJ Record: Van Gundy is back in the trenches

    At least JVG has something with which to work.;) The Rocks have the players -- we just need to get them working together like when Ben-Hur switched the white horses around to make them work as a team.

    We were 5th in opp. FG% only because we blocked shots.
    That means Yao, EG and Cato played defense. It does not mean the other guys did.

    Watching the games tell us J. Posey and Hawks also played D but our guards played very poor perimeter defense, especially SF. Cat can play good defense on occasion.

    What irks me is the effort we put in and the lack of fundamentals, ie. playing with our hands and not our feet, reaching in, fouling jump shooter, watching the ball and not the man, not fighting thru picks, not putting in second effort after getting beat, not knowing when to play the passing lanes and when not to ...
    We have a good anchor in the middle, we should be a better defensive team. I bet you we will be one under JVG.

    Have you even read the articles quoting Van Gundy? He has constantly said that the offense needs to run through Yao Ming, and everybody has said that the offense was much better when it ran through Yao Ming.
