I would love to see Harris as a Rocket, but hes not a true PG...For some reason, I just hate seeing players who are forced to play positions due to size, etc...Especially at a hierarchy position such as PG, where your first and upmost responsibility should be to get others involved and control game tempo...Harris is a shooter who can play the point in a pinch, not vice versa...

I'm not convinced Lucious Harris is the answer at PG but if the Rockets felt he was a good stop gap for 1 year they'd be foolish to allow NJ to cut him and put him on waivers. If Harris is cut before Aug 15th, he stays on the waiver wire for 48 hours. If more than 1 team claims him, he goes to the team with the worst record. Maybe no team would claim Harris but that IMO would be risky.

Again, assuming the Rox would really want him (and I'm slightly skeptical although McGrady, Harris and JJ would be interesting), the Rox best bet would be to offer NJ a second round pick to send Harris for $2.6m of the $6.99m TE. NJ takes no salary hit and the Rox still have $4.3 left of the TE along with Harris' Bird Rights which would not transfer if waived and signed.

Regarding Zo, the same waiver and TE trade rules apply as Harris. If Zo were 100% certifiably fit, I'd say "Yes"...but would JVG have flashbacks?

UPDATE: How about Zo and New Jersey's 1st round pick next summer for the TE? Maybe protected to Top 4. They are gonna stink and they've already got 3 first rounders from DEN.

I like Harris. But I don't know about him playing point or if he is much of an upgrade of a healthy Pike. A better defender...yes. A better outside shooter... no.

But... if we could trade for Harris along with a healthy, committed to play ZO... that would be nice.

GATER, I feel the same way you do. Ideally I would like to have Daniels. But I wouldnt mind Harris as a stop gap. He has experience, has good size, is a good shooter and to me plays good team ball.

I am just throwing out Harris because he could be an option. I certainly would see him get more minutes than Pike on this team.

Could Zo play the PF like Cato alongside Yao? Talk about an upgrade.

I'd love to get Zo as well, but where would the minutes come from if we just traded the TE for him?

Also, our payroll would shoot up and we wouldn't have a backup PG yet.

If Zo can play, then the Nets can trade him lots of places. However, if the teams that want him can't offer better cap relief than Weatherspoon, could we possibly have a deal? How about if we send a first rounder as well?

We really need to get in on this. If Zo is healthy, I would LOVE for him to put in 25 good minutes next to Yao and 35 in the playoffs. It would be great, he's got strength and size, and we'd have starting-calibre player backing him up as insurance.

I would go the Celtics rout. Mihm and Yogi for MoT? Mihm and Yogi for Spoon and Pike? Mihm and Yogi for Spoon anda chunk of the TE?

We would then send them Boston's way in excahnge for Zo. Yao, Zo and either MoT or Howard would be a tremendous frontcourt rotation.

Ofcourse, all this is assuming Zo can play.

I read an article recently that said Zo wanted to try a comback after playing well in a charity event. NJ is scared that he will try to, because his contract can come off the books after this year if he does not play. But if he does play, his contract stays on the books for its whole term.

I have tothink that he is done. But as a back up, he may be interesting.

In 15 starts last year while Kidd was out, Lucious averaged 13.5 points, 4.2 assists, 4 rebounds, while shooting 46% from the field, 42% from three, and playing 37 minutes per game.

While those numbers aren't exactly outstanding, they're servicable for our needs. If Lucious is bought out, I wouldn't mind trying him out for a year or two.

Good find AstroRocket. I mean if people are even contemplating JJ at PG why not Harris? Sure is is more of a SG but he has played decent minutes at point, and during the playoffs. Those numbers up there are pretty good. We aren't expecting the PG to put up huge numbers across the board, just be serviceable, be a shooter and play decent defense.
