If anyone is unsure, we played it on the show. 28 minutes of real game footage. Check it out. www.videogamehourlive.com/mario.mov This is the 2nd half of the show where it's us just sitting back and playing videogames. Not much production value but it's a good time after all the other work.
I am a person who just loves first person shooters, especially world war 2 stuff, but after playing Galaxy yesterday, it was like a breath of fresh air, beautifull creatitvity, good orchestrated music, simple and charming, I would definitely recommend this game for casual and noncasual gamers alike. I think it just raised the level of gaming up a notch. As for medal of honor heroes, kind of lost interest in it when Galaxy was there. I thought the graphics was average, the campaign wasn't anthing we haven't seen before, but the multiplayer was fun and the arcade mode will suit the casual gamer.
So far this game has been rated the best game ever. It is scoring better than Zelda: OoT. http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/simpleratings.asp?rankings=y
Hey, guys... there are dots on my Wii jokes aside, I've never noticed this until playing Mario Galaxy... I'm playing on a Sony KDL-V3000 with component cables, 480p/16:9.... any ideas?!?! They change from place to place and I even noticed them a bit on the Wii Main Menu now... what in the world is this?!
That looks like dead pixels on your TV, actually. But that might not be it, it just kind of looks that way.
Nah, it's only on Wii games... after searching a bit more I found it has to do with the GPU overheating from WiiConnect24 always on... probably will have to send it to Nintendo for a replacement it sounds like...
gamespot has 3 hours of gameplay also. I have almost 30 stars and the levels are just getting more and more nuts. Battlerock is fun. They have done a great job incorporating the remote, e.g. stingray, rolling the ball, slingshotting yourself, etc
I'm a few hours in...great game. it'll definitely be one of the best ever, historically. nintendo never really ceases to amaze me. thing is, as impressive as it is artistically and graphically -- it makes me wonder, what would it look like if it had the same horsepower as a 360 or ps3 backing it?
I'm about 50 stars in, and the levels are just nuts. What I said earlier doesn't do it justice; amazing level design. Also the first Bowser fight is absolutely awesome. Hell pretty much all of the boss fights are great. Also coming across a lot of the more challenging stages now...It's like you get into some sort of old school platforming groove.
yeah, i'm hooked. Stayed up late last night playing. I am closing on 40 stars. Each galaxy i am more and more impressed and amazed at the level design. The bubble maze, racing the ghost through space with the grabbing function,Slingshotting stages etc....its freaking great. The haunted house, where you are only given a little segment to move along, was really good. I'm kinda mad that i'm headed out of town and wont be able to play.
I got it last week and so far I've only been able to play a couple of times for about an hour and a half each time. I think I have 11 stars at this point, but the levels have already started to get really fun. For the first time in a while, I really struggled to turn off a game. I plan to get in a lot more time during the long weekend. Spoiler Only complaint so far is that the bosses are total pushovers. However, the robot boss with the huge legs/clamps was awesome looking.
yeah, you are just starting to get into some of the really good levels where it really picks up. The bosses are a little easy at first (and the one you mentioned was extremely cool looking), but don't worry. It gets more challenging. Spoiler the freaking spider was a pain in the butt
Anybody played the Sweet Sweet Galaxy thing that has all the moving surfaces with holes in them? Must have taken me 25 tries to get that star
Did you get every coin and star shard (is that what they're called)? That's what I was trying to do, but I eventually gave up and just finished it.
i got the star bits...if thats what you mean. Didnt get all the coins. It was a tricky level though. I just jumped into it and when i got done i was like, "how the hell did i make that". I actually do that alot. The first time i make it perfect, then if i ever go back and try it again i die 8 times.
is it just me, or does anyone else love it when a comet is near a galaxy? that's like a free star for me.
Took me 3 tries I think. The music (as in most of the game) is freakin' great. It gets crazier. Like I said, there are times you just get into this platforming zone. Anyone watching you play will be staring in amazement. There's like four things going on at once that you are having to work through and you're trying to dodge and collect coins at the same time ... and it's still awesome. I haven't actually dealt with the comets yet. They just add extra challenges to the levels right? I beat it at 61 stars. Will probably play Mass Effect, then go back and try and get the rest. Some of the bonus galaxies are amazing though.
