That's a good point on the cellphone thing. I don't really have many portable things so I don't really know too much about batteries and whatnot. I wonder if anyone else with a Sony portable device could comment on how their battery meters act. Of course, if they act like what you mentioned, this would definitly be something to look into. I wouldn't want to take my PSP on a 2.5 hour trip and think I have a full battery only to have it go out on me halfway through the trip. I hope their battery meter is at least somewhat accurate.

AFAIK, I want to say the PSP has around 6 hours or so of battery life when playing games. Movies are expected to drain the battery in 2.5 or 3 hours, but games shouldn't. It mostly depends on the developer though. The reason a movie drains it so quickly is because it basically needs the UMD to be spinning constantly, creating a big energy drain. A game wouldn't need to spin the disk as much but exactly how much they need the disc to spin depends on the developers. That is one of the main reasons why Sony hasn't come out and said: "If you are playing a game, the PSP will last for X hours." Since so few games have actually been completed, they couldn't really say how long it would last. With some games nearing or being complete, maybe they can give a pretty good estimate.

That is one thing that the cartridges that Nintendo usually goes with has over discs. They normally have a lot less storage than a disc and also cost a little more to make that discs, but they don't require a disc to be spinning, not to mention that they don't have any load times AFAIK.

I'm a stupid head. I read just about all I could about the Sony meeting yesterday and I somehow miss something about this? I'm really disappointed in myself.

Sony updated their list of games and developers yesterday and guess who made an appearance...that's right, our very own Square-Enix is now listed as a developer for the PSP, although the genre and game are still TBD. This probably means that they would rather make a surprise announcement that will fill us in on what they plan. Here's a link to the list:

That's pretty awesome I guess. Like I said earlier, if it is a game similar to the DS ones, I'll probably not be too interesting although having Square-Enix onboard is pretty good. Of course, if it is some awesome game, I'll definitly check it out...if I happen to have a PSP.

Sorry Nintendo but a thread that was suppose to be just about your DS now has changed to a discussion about the DS's rival, the PSP. :)
