It's a combination of 'good' difficult and 'bad' difficult. Good in terms that if you can make use of combos, block well and have the dexterity to dodge it actually makes the game easier. So you need strategy. And you look badass doing it. On the other hand, the camera system is seriously flawed and leads to a lot of 'cheap' fighting - blindsided by your opponent - and tough angles. That can get annoying...especially because you almost never fight just one enemy at a time. The boss fights are hard, because as someone said they have no clear patterns, just stock moves. And they require you to use the 'block/dodge/counter' system I mentioned above to the MAX ability to beat a boss. That said, it is rather satisfying when you finally do take the sons a b**ches down.
IIRC, Ryu was the name of the main character in the first Ninja Gaiden, and the Street Fighter character is a direct reference/homage to him. I think the others could be as well.
yes the game is friggin hard and at times frustrating but it's pretty enough and definitely fun enough to make it worth it. i wish you could adjust the camera with the analog stick rather than go straight into first person mode. that would make it perfect.
This is one of the very best action games ever made. The only issue I have with it is the camera, and even that isn't so bad once you get used to it. Otherwise, it's a superb game. Very challenging, and very fast paced.
ok... gave in and rented it. not a bad game at all. graphics are bad arse, action-packed... very cool. resident-evilish with the background music... can be kinda quiet at one point and then a ninja or saumari (sp?) pops out to attack you. if you're talking about the red saumari dood on the freaky lookin horse thing, it works well if you... stand in the far left corner, block everything the floating doods and the saumari horse guy throw at you, and then when the red guy turns around... unload on his arse. takes a while, but not as long as when you try to beat the first boss (really your master). the trick is trying to conserve your energy from fighting the regular 3 to 4 guys on the horses before you fight the red horse saumari guy.
I beat him last nite, I bought about 15 of the spiritual elixer things at that store and used about 8 of them The way I beat him was to wait for him to ride away from me and his horse would rare-up and he would swing the sword right before running back the other way. After he swung his backside was open and I'd tag him three or four times. I did this while running out of the way of the other dudes fire balls and manually blocking if they got close enuff to hit me. The first boss is easy, wait for him to get close to a wall then jump up on the wall and run along it. When you get to the spot right above him press the yellow button and you'll hit him almost every time but be carefull cuz whether you hit him or not he will unload on you while you are in range so press blcok and then run away from him when he stops attacking.
