Love Wade Baldwin and Stauskas is a decent spot up shooter. I like all three acquisitions but I wish this was something we did over the offseason rather than bringing in MCW, Melo and Ennis.

This shows just how out of touch you really are with what's going on.

    Shumpert is not going anywhere...

I think we're still in talks with MEM about Jam.

What does Doug Christie think about former King STAUSKAS?

What level does he take the Rockets to?
    Another level below?
    Another level higher?

There’s a reason why Portland didn’t blink twice about letting both those players go.

I would rather move Shumpert on to free up money which allows D House to come back.

These pick ups are in anticipation that rockets clinch early because only 5 of the last 15 games are against playoff teams.

So guessing rockets will play all these guards (stauskas, shumpert, rivers) during garbage time of the season, last 15 games.

They don't call it small ball for nothing! Losing a lottery pick though?! Not much faith in draft :(

I remember him going off vs the Lakers. I wonder why the Blazers gave up on him so quick. I don't even know how he ended up with the Cavs.

I like house and he should be back I would think but shump is a better player than house.

You guys will be pleasantly surprised with iman.

Shump is a legit nba rotation player and a great defender. He’s a champ and played a nice roll on winning that championship.

Very nice pickup for the rockets I don’t get the hate.

He’s better than the Memphis guys and burks.

And Otto porter makes way to much money he would cripple this team moving forward.

Moreknee said this is the help he's gonna get and he better say thank you.

In all honesty, I think shump will help and stauskas can contribute next year( whens his contact up?) But has never been given a chance .

When we traded Chriss into the Cavs TPE, it pushed the Cavs 2.5 mill over the luxury tax line. So they had to shed money, so we took back Stauskas and Baldwin who are due a combined 3 million.

The reason we swapped Chriss for Stauskas and Baldwin is that we can trade either of them individually to any team as they are vet minimum contracts that don't require salaries to be matched. So if we wanted to trade Chriss for nothing in return, we'd have to find a team with at least 3.2 mill in cap space. Therefor making it much harder as only the Mavs currently have significant cap space.

So what we likely do, is move Baldwin and Stauskas individually with cash for nothing - as we did with Melo and MCW.

Once we do that, we will only be about 800k over the lux tax line, meaning we can get under if we trade Nene for a player making 2.8 mill or less, or we stretch Nene over 5 years.

Or in the unlikely scenario we do some deal involving one of Gordon, Shumpert, Capela or Tucker that resolves in us cutting at least 800k in salary.

I think us stretching Nene seems the most realistic, it would leave us with roughly 1.3 million to work with below the lux tax line to fill out the 13th roster spot. So it wouldn't be enough for a 1.5 vet min on an experienced player, but it could be enough to bring back House (or some other young player) on a converted contract, or even an MLE deal starting at 1.3 million.

Is all of this correct @BimaThug?

I don’t expect Baldwin to do much. He can defend but his offensive skill set is nearly useless.

Stauskas can shoot, but is a poor defender. He tops out at replacement level. Honestly that isn’t much worse than a guy like Green though. Just have to see if his percentages bounce back to earlier levels

There is a deadline for stretching players which has passed. If we stretch Nene now this year's salary wouldn't be reduced.
