    no.

Fauci originally said masks made no difference. he later changed his mind.

imo, masks might make a difference, but masking, as it has most often been practiced during the pandemic (cloth masks, chin diapers, etc), made zero difference, and was probably a net negative.

    imo, of course.

No it isn't, it is like saying 4 out of 5 doctors don't smoke.... but listen to the 5th doctor that does smoke.

The over whelming majority of Department's did not and do not agree with the Energy Department's findings - and that doesn't even get into the fact that the ED admitted it wasn't reliable.

you understand that the spread of virus is not static, no??

    what an easy choice,

    1. the words of Fauci, a trained physician-scientist and immunologist with over 4 decades of professional experience or
    2. Basso's parroting of right wing talking points

This is the whole problem with the "gotcha" conservatives...... You lack context and just assume an adaptable virus requires immutability.

Fauci made this statement very early in the pandemic when we don't know how contagious the disease was and when there were real issues getting PPE to healthcare workers.

it went further than just masks.

The US economy was doing very well up until the pandemic occurred so conservative media had to treat the pandemic a certain way based off Trump's orders. If Trump didnt act like the pandemic was a liberal plot to overthrow him and took it seriously.... I would bet he would be president right now.

probably not gonna read about this in the NYT or WaPo

Jon Stewart recalls outrage after he backed COVID-19 lab leak theory: ‘F–k you, I’m done’

    https://nypost.com/2023/02/28/jon-s...ked-covid-19-lab-leak-theory-f-k-you-im-done/

    excerpt:

Jon Stewart is still miffed over the backlash he faced last year for backing the COVID-19 lab leak theory during a now-infamous appearance as a guest on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

The comedian revisited the controversy during the latest episode of his AppleTV+ show “The Problem with Jon Stewart” on Monday – one day after a bombshell revelation that the US Energy Department now views a lab leak as the most likely explanation for the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the revelation, Stewart downplayed the notion that he was vindicated by the classified report, which has yet to be made public. The former “Daily Show” host had faced condemnation for backing the theory during his June 2021 discussion with Colbert.

“First of all, I wasn’t waiting on the Department of Energy to weigh in on this,” Stewart joked.

“The larger problem with all of this is the inability to discuss things that are within the realm of possibility without falling into absolutes and litmus-testing each other for our political allegiances as it arose from that,” Stewart added.

It's important to note that we still don't know if it came from a lab or not. Both are still possibilities and saying one way or the other with certainty is a mistake. And it leaking from a lab doesn't mean it was made there either.

More important on the whole lab leak debate is how the Chinese gov't handled it's investigation into what happened.

He was racist whether we thought the infection was a lab leak or a natural zoonotic spread. And he was racist long long before Covid.

Trump was handed his equivalence of a 9/11 and all he had to do was not politicize and handle the pandemic and he would have easily won his reelection.

Instead he downplayed it instead of taking it seriously. No one in there right mind should say trump did the best he could handling the pandemic, we didn't need to lose that many Americans If Trump was more proactive.

I said “how contiguous”…. And you are ignoring the PPE issue at the onset? Lastly….

Covid was declared a pandemic by WHO on 3/10/20.

Fauci made his mask comment on 3/8/20.

    Like I said…. “Gotcha conservatives”

Lol…. Double down on the gotcha…. Yes… Fauci didn’t know how contiguous Covid was before it was declared a pandemic.

So any rebuttal regarding Fauci making his mask comment before Covid being declared a pandemic?

@Nook because Fauci is the head of all these intelligence departments. The Trump administration intelligence departments. Fauci had like 10 different roles. I think he was in charge of the NSA at one point or something...
