They are both horrible. Just horrible. Their music sucks. Their lyrics suck. Their originality, which is non-existent, sucks. Their (seemingly) inflated view of themselves sucks. The corporate beast (ClearChannel) that feeds us this crap sucks. There is virtually no room for originality today, and crap like Creed-douche and Nickel-douche only exists to ensure that we, the people, have to endure more and more douche-dom. F*cking douches. The Creed singer-douche compared Creed to Led Zeppelin. WRONG. That's like comparing a varying-pitched fart to Mozart or Beethoven. They're both just awful, awful bands, and I hope they all die.
i don't like creed's music but they atleast attempt to mix it up a bit. nickelback shamelessly exploits the same tune over and over. same **** voice in the exact same pitch with the same beats. they have, at the minimum, 3 songs that are exactly the same. i'm sure they're all very talented musicians but they mailed it in for profit a long long time ago and people still eat that **** up like rats. now that's a joke of a band.
See BigM's post above for a spot-on analysis of Nickelback and lack of originality. What I was referring to are the tactics corporations employed in signing bands these days: they take whatever is hot, and thus selling, at the moment and find something just like it. The result is anything independent, original, new, experimental, whatever gets pushed aside in favor of cookie-cutter bands who fit the formula to make the most money the fastest. The result is crap radio pushing crap music onto the masses who, lets be honest, have crap taste for any number of reasons.
A large group of people seem to like their music and are just dismissed as having crap tastes. Tastes are like anything else. . wide and varied . . no one is better than the other. they just different. These two bands just seem to spark a SPECIAL Hatred than most. I wanted to know also. WHAT BANDS do you like? What do you see as THE OPPOSITE of these two Bands? Rocket River
bands i like hmmm modest mouse, incubus, 311.... and a few others these are the main three i like the first two because its something different and enjoyable at the same time. modest mouse especially is a breath of fresh air compared to creed/nickleback. 311 is just a legendary band that i've grown to love
i dont think people have great taste like said above. and it can be for any number of reasons like stated above. its kind of like mass people in this country voting for george bush. he is fumbling, dumb, crooked, money hungry man. and there can be any number of reasons why he was voted in by the slightest of margins twice. it may be because of someone that believes in the core conservative fiscal values of repubs. or someone doesnt think abortion is right. and you can go on and on. but what you end of with is the end result. which is radio stations end up pushing crap like creed and nickelback, which in turn people that dont really go to live shows or read music magazines, or do any research on the internet, or have no friends that turn them onto good music end up taking the easiest route and slurp up those two crappy bands just so that at least have something to listen to. and you have mr. murdermoch pushing his foxnews agenda and you have people voting for mr. bush instead of the inventor of the internet or the swift boat guy.
http://www.theweb****e.net/nickelback.htm Hmmm... well I guess that part gets blocked. Think fecal matter.
I think the problem is the formulaic of the songs. Personally, I admit I have bad music tastes, so anything Top 40, I'll probably like. But hey, I don't see anything wrong with bashing people who like certain bands and claim it's pushed among the masses. They're popular because people like them...they may not be deep or whatever, but people like them.
http://bbs.clutchfans.com/showthread.php?t=76628&page=1&highlight=Nickelback Like others have said, they are unoriginal and in Nickelback's case, they are only in it for the money. Meanwhile, you have artists like Jack Bruce who are putting out great albums that no one is noticing unless you are a die-hard fan of his. I'm listening to his "More Jack Than God" CD and it is pretty damn good. Has Bernie Worrell (former keyboardist for Parliament/Funkadelic) and Vernon Reid on it. This is music that is interesting and should be heard, not crap like Creed and Nickelback.
It's called the "Music Business". They are all in it for the money. Many have families to feed. It's a noble notion the thought of a band "doing it their way" AND succeeding. Sometimes it happens. But more often than not it doesn't. I can't blame a band for trying to do music they love but at the same time having to make some "compromises" to make a living.
When their respective first albums came out, I enjoyed both bands moderately; the albums seemed like good jumping-off point. However, their sound got repetitive, and it soon became apparent they were happy sticking with the status quo, thus my interest tapered off. Now they're both just dull (to me). And I thought Creed broke up...?
Well, yeah I know that silly. What I was alluding to is that money drove Nickelback to forego their artistic integrity and their ability to grow and evolve as an artist. It sure is funny how Radiohead is a band that doesn't get a lot of popular airplay and yet they aren't having any problems with money. And they have never compromised their integrity. I can't say the same with Nickelback.

I've already made my thoughts known on Nickelback (to sum up: sucks), but why do people do stuff like this at concerst? In most cases you pay for tickets to see a band just to throw stuff at them? I can only reason this was a multi-band concert and Nickleback was not a fan favorite.
