They’re switching to specifically stop the PnR. That’s why capela has been a non factor offensively. They’re even trapping harden off the PnR.
I am glad that there are lots of talks about the fouls. It will get their attention in the next game.
Yes, they have been successfully doing that because they know Harden is going to pop a 3. Haven't see Harden run a mid-range game this whole year. My point is that if refs are not calling these fouls, as they managed to do the same last year, then maybe Harden needs to improvise especially when Capella and others are a non-factor. Gotta do something rather than depend on refs to blow the whistle. What is your solution?
Sort of. His argument that "Harden had the ball in his hands with a chance to win and didn't have to take that three point shot" is awful. What he's basically saying is -- if the refs aren't calling fouls, you could have fixed it by not having done the things that you were fouled doing. We have a name for this - it's called hindsight. Sure, if you could predict the future - when you have the ball in your hands, don't do the thing that they are about to foul you on without a call.
According to Nick Wright, the NBA itself says the refs gave a 90-point advantage to GSW in last year's playoffs. It didn't get their attention.
I look forward to how the NBA spin the l2m report. Fking hate these refs and we didnt even had foster to fk us over yet.
LOL. Man, I really hope Rockets beat these GSW. So tired of their stupid fans ignoring the obvious fouls and justifying it by saying Harden flops when former ref Steve Jabi himself said that these should have been called. The arrogance of warrior fans is unbelievable.
I agree completely on the fouls and to a certain extent on adjustments. Again this is hindsight as you say but the refs called one foul on step back throughout the game, in the second half, on the Harden and 1. If Harden is going to be limited by refs or gimmicky defense and can’t get quality shots then... Before the start of the playoffs, I wouldn’t have agreed to using the mid range with Harden but after the first round and this game, I think Rockets should consider the step back (direction away from defender) 2 shot around the paint and free throw line. For some reason, either mental block from Game 1 or quick defenders, the floater isn’t falling in. More teams will try limiting Harden’s 3 even after GSW, with either shading completely to the left (Rubio) or slightly shading left taking away the 3 (Klay defense), with either a quick defender in paint or multiple defenders, or even a big who can affect both lob and rim. Maybe it’s something we should look at after Game 2, if the offense still stagnates, but it’s been 5 playoff games.
The NBA gave the rockets a list of every call they missed or got wrong. The Rockets slap the 90+ point value on those plays by analyzing them.
Yes good clarification. But the points value is still important. Like on those first-half threes last night: 3 fouls on Harden equate to potentially nine points!! With Harden's shooting, he would probably convert 8 of them. "Three fouls" does not express it; "three fouls" could represent zero free throws.
Not sure if it means that the NBA actually provided the point advantage. From what I understand, the league gave the teams their 48-minute reports similar to those last 2 minutes reports, which just consist of calls and non-calls that are correct or incorrect. The point advantage is likely calculated by the team based on those reports. And I don't think the league officials, when they did the reports, would tell their boss, "Gee, we really made the Warriors' opponents' lives difficult! Got to do something about it." What will get their attention is the media. If everybody is talking about it, the league will get embarrassed and they will be forced to do something, even if it's just a short term bandage.
The whole “refs don’t like to be fooled” is such a bailout excuse in this situation. I can understand it a little more for drives to the bucket and such, but an undercut on a shot is so ridiculously obvious it just has to be called. There’s no excuse. The defender is in the landing space, refs are supposed to be watching the ball/shooter, and that is a clear cut foul. You don’t even have to be a professional ref to see it. No excuse on those.
The play with Green gaurding Harden near the end might not have been a foul but it was close enough they could have made a make-up call from the multiple ones they admittedly missed earlier in the game not to mention the extra points from techs the Warriors were granted from justified arguing with the refs.
If the NBA does not get their refs in line, then I see no other way than to step forward on their 3s and step forward on Durant's midrange shots too. Dirty for dirty
