I didn't even see him play last year. I have no idea what NVE has left in the tank. If he's anywhere close to what he was when he was with the Mav's, I'd love to see him signed for the vet minimum. I'd be disappointed to see any of our MLE go to him.

This is a guy who was ready to retire last year because of the terrible condition of his knees, then quit on his team when they decided to start giving the youngsters more minutes. I can't see how he fits into our future plans.

I caught a little of it on the work as well. A caller asked him why things didn't work out in LA and with Shaq so he could have been there to win championships and he said that he couldn't make it to a commercial shoot that Shaq wanted him to be at so Shaq got him traded.

I only caught that and the tail end of him and John arguing over the proposed age limit and if it is right or not. Sounded like he was against it from what I heard.

I'm surprised everyone hasn't mentioned that NVE played with a healthy and explosive Antonio McDyess. McDyess would have been a great PF in the league before injuries robbed him of his prime years much like Grant Hill.

Dice was never really a pure low post scorer though, he was more like Stoudemire. His game was on the baseline, in the open court, and slashing to the basket.

Clearly, Yao's not exactly an open court or "slashing"-type player.

EDIT: Oh, NVE's not really better than Mike James... But if he's willing to sign for the minimum, one could always use more depth. Just as long as he doesn't b**** about playing time.

I've never paid attention to NVE's defense. How well does he play D?

NVE would be a nice pick up.

There's never been much to pay attention to, frankly.

His D has never been any good, and it's gotten worse with the condition of his knees.

NVE would be a really nice addition and I honestly think he would take a paycut to play here. He's just coming off a HUGE contract that was paying him 12M/year and his contract before that might have been even bigger so I don't think money will be a big issue.

He lives in Houston and we are legit contendors now. NVE is a playmaker, he's been in big games and he is solid veteran.

What kind of contract do you give NVE? You can't give him more than one year guaranteed with the way his knees are barely holding together. We already have Mike James, so what's NVE's role going to be? Also, would you rather have NVE for a year or 2, or get a young point guard in here (VSpan or a draft pick) to get some experience in those 2 years? Nick is not enough to get us a title- I'd rather have a younger prospect in here learning the ropes and moving into a starting spot in 2006 or 2007

No, he could not do it in Dallas. That was why he left so that he can do that in a real NBA match.

Mike James and NVE are too similar. I don't see the point of having both of them on the same team.

Not really. NVE can actually pass the ball shown by the seasons where he averaged over 8 assists a game. Even last year, he average 4.3 assists.

My question with NVE is his knees.

I just saw this thread, began reading it and started thinking the same thing, however NVE is a better passer and decision maker than MJ.

One thing NVE can do, about as well as anyone, is getting inside the D, breaking it down.

NVE's assist-to-turnover ratio's speak for themselves but he is slowing down a bit and has never been a good defender, hard to see him fitting in here.
