I have always wanted that shoe! When it first came out, my parents were unwilling to dish out the $ to get it... And, now that it has been re-released and they are willing, I no longer play baskeball, and see no use in having some $100(Give or take, right?) basketball shoes.
When I die, i am going to die in a pair of black nike socks, fo sho'. do you guys remember the Nike Air Uptempos, i think they were called, from 1995? or 1996? Those were the shoes that said AIR on them really big on the shoes.
cool, my friend, whose obsessed with shoes, actually bought 2 pairs of these original ones off ebay probably a month or 2 ago and recently just gave me a pair because they didn't fit him. i still haven't worn them yet but they're brand new. my main problem with them is that it looks like a dress shoe/basketball combination. defeinitely not in my top 10 but they are unique. i do like those red x-beams that francis had but apparently they're bad for your feet. i went to buy his original shoe, winkdmx? or whatever it was but they hurt just trying it on so i passed. anyways usually i just stick in the $50-60 range and get whatever looks decent. the best shoes i've owned and probably have a couple different pairs lying around, are the old spalding hakeem's. those are classics.
i dont know about greatest b-ball shoe, but my favorite manufacturer has got to be salvatore ferragamo. damn expensive, but worth the price.
Just picked up another pair on Ebay. Love these shoes. I'm addicted. Somebody stop me!!!! Mix these in with my newly aquired TMac jersey (+2 length of course). Classic
To ball in, this is by far the best shoe (Steve Nash still wear them years are they stopped seeling them to the public and after doing ads for a new nike shoe)
I think these are the best looking of all the new retro shoes. The comfort award though, goes to Camper shoes.
I still don't know who the hell Chuck Taylor is... The Chucks may look cool, but whoever thought they were a basketball shoe is nuts.
Okay so maybe they're not the nicest all time, but I've been pretty happy with these for the last 8 months or so. Also, who could forget the original Reebok pumps.
I used to have the biggest hard-on for the original Reebok Pumps but my parents refused to spend over $100 on a pair of bball shoes. Instead they bought me a pair of the original Reebok Shaq shoes at Weiners for $40. Those were the shoes with an external gas pump and you had to buy refills at $10 a pop. Of course I never got the refills.
