what would this city be in terms of sports without dream? dream was one of the best centers of all time. i'm so glad i was around to see his greatness.
In terms of how good they were over the course of their career, absolutely. In terms of how good they were when they were actually on the team, no way.
[rquoter]Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs Easy to forget: He came into the league after Kobe and got four championships before him. [/rquoter] It's easy to forget, because that didn't happen.
What are you talking about? The Spurs won it in '99, 2003, 2005 and 2007 with Duncan, who they drafted a after Kobe was drafted. Kobe might have been the first to get three but Duncan got four rings before he did.
Well, at the time Portland took a lot of heat for drafting Bowie ahead of Jordan (heat then is far different now) even though many thought Jordan was going to be better than Olajuwon. I'll never believe MJ was better, or as unique as Dream, but he definitely was the stuff dreams were made of for NBA execs and television. The greatest compliment to Olajuwon is that no one who played against him ever knocked him. There are a lot of people my age that think Ewing and Robinson were better with the "rings" being thrown out. And it's primarily that Dream didn't score as much in several years. But his blocks, altered shots and steals are just something we'd never seen before or have since.
loved the block of hakeem, when malone was going for the behind the head lay up. olajuwon came out of nowhere and blocked the s*** out of it. Malone's expression was priceless
I will never forgive the Rockets for trading him away, or the government for accusing him of being a terrorist
One thing, looking at some footage now, is how underrated Hakeem's ballhandling skills were for a center. My god, this guy was crossing people over out from 18 feet and taking it to the rack. How many centers in the history of this league had so many weapons? NONE, except for our very own Dream.
i shed a tear when dream showed up at a playoffs game 2 years ago. too bad we lost the series. i think dream was, is, and will forever be the face of this franchise. the newer generation only know of shaq and things like that, but if u talk to the real bball heads, dream is mad appreciated. he's arguably the best 2-way player to me. i think i've stated that a million times already.

We are not amused. The great one does not need to define his career based on Michael Jordan or anyone else.
