francis shouldve taken that final shot..as for cuttino he needs to be benched until he gets it through his skull this is a team game..i remember one play late in the game where he takes it into the lane draws three jazz defenders and yet fails to pass to steve whos wide open for three, anyone please back me up on this..also memo to rudyt..steve must be in the whole 4th quarter hes our superstar..no more mooch in the 4th. on andersons shot that one was fine..he was wide open and was hitting tonight..cuttinos, he forced it..he had time to pass..which he shouldve done..also bullard rushed a shot to tie it late in the 4th..bottom line mo looked good again and if cuttino doesnt soon learn this is "steves team"" its benching time in my opinion..i love cat but hes gotta learn..it doesnt take that much time and effort to learn the team concept..i still love his game though ------------------ How Sweet It Is! You have to admire his guts for taking the shot with the game on the line. Cuttino is all heart, and no brain. It just occurs to me that he is the Scare Crow from the Wizard of Oz. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
Gr8-1 you couldn't be more right. I was talking to some of my co-workers at our Christmas party and we were talking sports. Anyhow the Rocks were in town and they were showing the game downstairs at this one bar so we went downstairs and we watched the game. He was telling me how impressed he was with Mobley and how he thought he was the best player on our team, I told him that Mobley lacked it mentaly to ever be a team leader or even a teams best player. He disagreed and since we couldn't agree we left our debate for after the game. Now mind you he hadn't watched a Rocket game in two years so the only way he observed the Cat was from the boxscores and Sportcenter. As the game progresses Mobes is dazzling him with his quickness to the hoop but he also began to notice what I was saying. After Mobes almost blows our shot at winning and the crazy shot by Moochi he told me he thought the reason that Mobes plays the way he does is because he is only thinking about his stats. I gave it some thought and at first I disagreed but then as I watched Mobes more and more the man was right. I mean he is the anti-team player. Maybe we need to lead Cuttino to the yellow brick road so he heave his bricks all he wants and eventualy hook up with the scarecrow and share a brain. ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
damn i cant believe you beat me to that ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
i just saw the highlites of the game, and the mobley shot and i dont think it was that bad. it didnt go in, granted but it didnt seem as bad as you guys have been saying (double teamed, faded away, 30 ft). JMHO. ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
Or a AIRBALL 3-point attempt by Matt Bullard. I don't see how you can blame a single person on a loss for a team sport. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online
I think Cuttino does take some bad shots but also the rest of the team stands around and watches when he has the ball. ------------------ Now chew through my ball sack
o, but you can.Another thing about Cuttino that I notice is that he only plays defense once the player he's guarding has the ball which in this game happened a few times and in turn equalled Mobes gettin burned in the post by Bryon Russell ------------------
Cat's shot was not that bad. First of all, It wasn't a 30 foot shot. It's like 2 feet behind the arc (about 25 ft). How the hell can you call that a heave? Cuttino had his usual shooting form, he didn't try a fadeaway or a one handed or whatever. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online
I did not blame Matt. I did not say the Rockets lost because of him. I was just pointing out a missed shot. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online
Matts shot was bad also but I think its fair to say we would have rather had Bullard shoot a three versus Mobley. Matt shooting nearly 40% at 3's and Mobes shooting 31% Both were bad but in Matt I trust Mobes is just Maxwell without the knack. ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
If Cuttino is to play ISO in the first quarter, I suggest he should never start a game. The ISO works well against opponents' second units , not their starters. The last shot ... DAMN ... what the hell was that??? I don't mind he missed it, but problem is that was the worst shot we could have. I'll be mad even if he did make that shot. Not as mad as now though ... ------------------
True, but nevertheless that was still a pretty stupid decision on his part to even take that shot. ------------------
Also, Cat isn't very good from 3 point range. Walt, Steve, Bull, and KT all shoot a better percent then he does. But, it was a team loss. Everyone had a fault in the loss. Steve shoulda been more agressive, Bull and Shandon shoulda made their shots. It seems as if everyone on the team (including Steve) concedes the ball to Cat. Maybe they know something that we don't know. ------------------ "We don't have any plans. We just plan to win." Mack Brown
I still get the same feeling ... I'll be mad even if he did make the shot. Individualism sucks!!! WHO has the most of it on our team ...... ------------------
What really made it so frustrating was how easily Francis swished that last 3-pointer. That should've been an obvious wake-up call for Rudy to let Francis have all the last second shots from here till the rest of the season. ------------------ "Cuttino is all heart, and no brain. It just occurs to me that he is the Scare Crow from the Wizard of Oz."- a wise observation from Dadakota
What infuriates me most is that this has all happened before. Just a couple weeks ago we were all yapping about Mobley doing the EXACT SAME THING. Sorry, the shot was awful. Sorry, Steve was *WIDE OPEN*. There's no excuse. Anderson didn't make a mistake. Nobody's going to hit all of their shots... no matter how open they are. Those kind of shots you take... and can deal with the misses. Missing shots isn't a mistake... TAKING bad ones is. Ah well... next time.... give the ball... to Steve Francis... please. ------------------ Shandon Anderson rocks. The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001.
Nice to see a voice of reason on the board. Thanks, Nugzfan. 1) Francis was not wide open. He was not even that close to the 3-point line. No team, especially a crafty one like the Jazz, is going to give anyone a wide open 3-pointer when they are up by 3 in the closing seconds!! Let alone the other team's best player! Wake up and stop the nightly Mobley-lynching. 2) There were not 2 guys on Mobley. There was a man equally as close to Francis. 3) If Francis had even bothered to show up for the first 3 and a half quarters, and maybe even outplayed 38-year-old John Stockton, the Rockets may not have been losing in the first place. 4) "You guys are focusing on all the wrong things" -DaDakota 5) The Jazz are better than the Rockets. Karl Malone has a terrible night, they're on a 5-game skid, and they still come in and beat the Rockets on their home-court. Stockton outplayed Francis, again. This makes everyone on this board so mad, that rather than admit the truth, they rip Cuttino Mobley, like usual. Sad. It's no different from COACH SAMPSON blaming the NBA or the refs for his team's shortcomings. 6) What happened to "let's lose as much as we can and get a good draft pick"? Was that only a one year thing? What, the team is so much better now that they don't need to tank? Rejoice, everyone! This game just got us closer to another Jason Collier! ------------------ "Why can't dip be a meal?" -David Puddy The Hunger Site
