If Beanie Wells is legit the Cards maybe a serious threat to make some noise. Would love to see the Cards and Saints try to outscore each other.
Both the Saints and Vikings, next week have a great chance to put some good distance between them and the 2nd place team, close out some of divisions early. If the Vikings win next week, they'll be 2.5 games off the Packers with already beating them previously this season. If the Saints win next week, they can have a 3 game over the Atlanta Falcons with a fairly easy 2nd half schedule (only 3 winning teams on the card, Falcons, Patriots, and Cowboys, 2 of which are at the Superdome).
That is a devestating injury for Leon Washington, just awful. He turned down a few pretty big contract extensions this offseason because he thought he could get more. He really is#1 RB material and could be a feature back for many teams. He's really explosive and even all of the fantasy gurus pegged him for a big year - and then the broken leg. Not good at all.
Thoughts on this week Saints - There is nothing to be taken from this game as a good sign, yeah it was a come from behind game but against a one dimensional team who lit up their defense in the 1st half and gave Brees a ton of problems with their schemes. This victory had a lot to do with Miami imploding in the 2nd half and less to do with Brees leading the comeback. The game changer was that god awful replay call, it was clearly a touchback by Sharper who lost the ball before breaking the plane. Those are the kind of lucky breaks Saints needed to win this game. After this showing and Minny getting whooped, Saints may lead the NFC but they are clearly not good enough to hang with the top AFC teams. My Ranking right now 1. Steelers 2. Colts 3. Broncos 4. Saints 5. Patriots 6. Vikings 7. Bengals 8. Cardinals 9. Giants 10. Cowboys The NFC teams arent that good against AFC competetion. Saints and Vikings BOTH DOME TEAMS are going to struggle against Colts, Steelers, Broncos and Patriots. Steelers: The defense looked impressive in the 4th qtr with two TDs and keeping Peterson in check for most of the game except for maybe 2 plays at the end. Their hustle on that return by Woodley examplifies why they are the best defense in the NFL. 4 Vikings tried to make the tackle but failed miserably.
Obviously a steeler homer. You would put Steelers with a 5-2 record ahead of both the colts and saints with 6-0 record. Ranking doesn't really mean much but how do you explain the two defeats of the steelers?
As a steeler homer, I'd say Polamalu. (But, I wouldn't put them at the 1 spot yet. Wait until the computer churns out their ranking. Bowl game here we come!)
The Steelers are 5-2 and have beaten only one team with a winning record, and have really struggled on the road. Putting them number one is crazy.
This is laughable. Good teams can come from behind and win games. Steelers number 1, really? No problem with the Colts Broncos or Saints in those spots although they should each be 1 higher. Patriots that high? Who have they beaten again? I would exactly put the Cowboys that high either. When do the Saints or Vikings play the Colts or Broncos? Obvious Steeler homer. Ignore.
I have to be honest.....the Steelers are #1. When it comes down to the playoffs I still have them at the top. Running game HAS to improve though.
I'm going to have to disagree, they at least have a couple exciting backs, and Steve Smith will stay make a jaw-dropping play every once in a while. The Redskins have nothing of interest whatsoever to me.
That's true and I like to see Jake Delhomme on the sideline whining and yelling at everyone. I'm just waiting on Steve Smith to go off on him this point.
At the time they beat San Diego, the Chargers had a winning record. They really struggled on the road, eh? Their 2 defeats were indeed on the road. They trailed the 2 games by a combined 29 seconds and 6 points. (14sec 3 points/15sec 3 points) All of their road games coincidentally involved polamalu on the sidelines. But, yes putting them #1 is odd. Then again, they are the super bowl champs.
Deservedly so! Then slap whoever gave him that big extension this off-season. The panthers really should of went after Matt Cassel.
