They have the defense that the Texans had envisioned, they give up yards but put pressure on the QB and create turnovers to make up for their secondary. They will be in it till the end, no doubt, and if Vince or Kerry can be adequate...look out.
I won my fantasy game to remain undefeated because MJD was pulled on the last drive. Thank you jeebus.
Me too, sort of....I had the Titans D, and it got me 9 points, where MJD only got 8...I won by 6..... VY is now 30-15 as a starter too.... DD
Who had MJD? If your opponent did, How did MJD not playing on that last drive win the game for you when you were ahead by SIX? (in other words, only a touchdown would've sank your ship, and that wasn't happening, especially on the ground)
We are a yardage league etc....so every 10 yards is a point, every reception is also a point, every 10 yards receiving is a point...... On defense, I only get points on a declining basis, you start with 21 points on D, and every 50 yards, it drops by 3 points, they got 249 so I got 9 points, if MJD was in there, they probably get more yards, I get even less points...and I lose. I know, that is what I found funny, however, he will get the win, they could games started etc...and honestly, Vince or no Vince the Titans beat the Jags tonight regardless. Right now the Titans look really good, gonna be a fun race between them the Texans and the Colts....a toss up really. DD
Just further evidence of how little that record has to do with him and his subpar QB skills. /VY bashing for tonight
Yeah, I have been lobbying forever to get points on D through sacks and turnovers.....instead of yardage. I do like the receptions for a point though, it makes RBs that catch a lot of passes very productive. And Receivers that get a lot of targets or opportunities are also great. Another thing we do, is we have 2 payouts...one for head to head and one for total points.... And any waiver pickup costs us points.....QBs, RBs, WRs are 20 points...and any other position is 10. Tenny is my D, and they are on a bye, but they average only 7 points so I am getting a big zero this week on D. DD
I'll throw this gasoline on the fire. Kevin Kolb had a better quarterback rating this week (against what was the league's 13th ranked pass defense), in his 5th career start, than Vince Young has ever had in his entire career's worth of 45 starts. (min. 20 passing attempts)
i *admitted* i said that to antagonize people. you don't have to call me a hater when i openly admit it. didn't you hear? i'm a trick azz busta. kk > vy lololololololololololol
It's funny that fans like to point to QB rating as the definitive stat for ranking QB's yet they couldn't explain how it's calculated. Wins, by far, is the most important metric for a QB - any real football person would agree.
You probably also think that wins are the best way to measure the quality of a pitcher in baseball, huh? That's obviously not true and pitchers actually have more control over the fates of their teams than QBs - certainly while they are in the game.
Well, starting pitchers have more direct control over their half of the game (at least while they're in) than QBs do over their half so if you think wins define QBs, it makes no sense that you don't feel the same about pitchers. In my opinion, wins tell you even less about the quality of a QB than wins tell you about the quality of a pitcher, and I think using wins to measure a pitcher is ridiculous. The point is that there are certainly better metrics than wins to define both QBs and pitchers. QB rating probably tells you a lot more about a QB than how many wins he's happened to be a part of. There is no doubt that a QB can perform awfully and earn a win. That alone should end the argument on using wins.
We're talking about football here, not baseball. Don't try to compare stats between two sports to try to make your point. The manner in which they are recorded are vastly different. One question for you BB, do you know how to calculate QB rating? (w/o looking it up)
Not a clue. My main point is that wins by themselves are a silly way to measure the quality of a QB or a pitcher. It's meaningless without other more meaningful data related to the performance of the QB or pitcher. I really don't care about the QB rating part of your initial argument. I'm just focused on your point about wins. Even if QB rating is obscure and overused and imperfect or even meaningless, there still has to be tons of more meaningful stats to measure a QB than wins.
All-time wins: Dan Marino: 147 Trent Dilfer: 58 Wins is not THE metric in judging QB's, but at least a statistical anomaly (like tonight's game) still results in a W or L. Whereas with QB rating, 2 late TD's in a blowout loss reflects that the QB performed well. My opinion.
