Someone pointed out to me that the Patriots haven't won a game against an above .500 team. In fact, they've lost both games they've played against teams with winning records. Source: Batch to have wrist surgery http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4682002 I imagine Big Ben was going to be ready for next week anyways, but this is still bad news for the Steelers, but good news for the rest of the league.
I'm wondering what the biggest fall from Grace is so far this year. Josh McDaniels and nearly everything associated with the Broncos or Mark Sanchez, Rex Ryan, Jets. Talk about stock up / stock down.
Anybody who bought into the Broncos hype doesn't have any sympathy from me. They looked like a paper tiger from the get-go. The Jets, on the other hand, looked like the Steelers circa 3 years ago.
I'd agree with the latter. I think the Broncos still have a shot to be a decent team and make the playoffs. And playoffs in year 1 of a new coach, new QB, rookie RB, etc. is still a success. The Jets, imo, have been done since about week 3? Sanchez has looked decent on occasion. But he has shown all year that he is, in fact, a rookie. (as opposed to the first 2 weeks where everyone said 'look how well he moves in the pocket' etc.)
At the end of the day, the Broncos are likely to be a better team than they were last year, and they have the Bears' #1 draft pick, which looks to be pretty good at the rate they are going. The Jets look to be worse than they were last year. I don't the Broncos have any problems here - even on a 4 game losing streak, they are better than anyone thought they'd be.
Saints and Colts right now don't seem like 10-0 teams bound for the Super Bowl. I think the Vikings would destroy the Saints right now personally, and the Colts can't keep winning every game on mental mistakes by the other side. The Chargers as much as it pains me to say it, are about the same as always. You think that LT is maybe done, but then all the sudden they start playing like a Super Bowl contender again. I think there is no reason the Houston Texans can't make a deep playoff run in the AFC this year, the time is right for them.
I think the playoffs are a lock if we win tonight. But advancing will be all about who we play. Wouldn't it suck total butt to have to play New England twice in a row if that is who we pull in the wildcard round?
I agree with you 100%. I think the Vikings are the best team in the NFL. They are good on both sides of the ball and yet to have a big injury unlike the like Colts and Saints. Colts can't win the Super Bowl without Bob Sanders and Marlon Jackson. Saints have had a ton of injuries in the secondary and I still think their defense is suspect. I think the Pats are the best team in AFC. I only see their young defense getting better and their offense is as good as the Saints.
only watched bits and piece of last weeks Monday nite game but had to watch this whole thing since the wife is Cows fan.
The AFC North collapse yesterday certainly helped the seeding. Baltimore is done now I think. They still have to play Pittsburgh twice and the Packers @ Lambeau in December. I think they finish 9-7. Pittsburgh is in trouble if Big Ben misses any substantial time, but after their matchup with Baltimore next week they get a couple cupcakes in Oakland/Cleveland and then they get Green Bay and Balimore at home. I think they will finish 10-6. The Dolphins lost Ronnie Brown and still have to face 4 possible playoff teams, they are done. That leaves the Steelers, AFC West runner up (Probably Broncos) and Jaguars as the Texans competition for the WCs. I don't think the Jaguars are a big of a concern. They are a mediocre team that is giving up more points than they've scored. The only thing they really have going for them is those hyphenated last name guys. Jones-Drew is a beast, leading the league in TDs. Mike Sims-Walker has developed into a legit receiver though, something J-ville hasn't had since the days of Smith and McCardell. Oh and this is a great tool from yahoo to help run your own playoff scenarios... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/playoffscenario?algorithm=yahooranker
Agree 100% here. It sounds strange to say after 11 weeks, but right now, I think the Vikings and Patriots are in a class of their own, with the Vikes a hair higher. Records be damned. I think Texans fans need to actively cheer for the Patriots and against the Bengals/Chargers the rest of the way. First, I want NE to have their bye secured so they have nothing to play for the last week of the season in Reliant. Second, if they secure a bye, there's no way the Texans could play them in the first round. NE is the only team on the AFC side of the bracket that I have any fear of.
