Yep. Even before the outcome of the play I called it. Kick the freakin' extra point and send the game to overtime. Herm Edwards is an idiot.
crazy end to the chiefs-chargers game. WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THE ANNOUNCER YELLING ON EVERY SINGLE PLAY. great catch by gonzalez tho to score the td. amazing how the chiefs cannot close out games( twice in a row) blew a lead to the chargers and the bucs..
I almost have to cheer Edwards for doing that, I guess wanted his team to win. Too bad, though. Steelers-Colts was a helluva game...I hope they met at some point again in the playoffs. The Colts aren't quite finished, yet.
I just don't think you demoralize your team's effort by setting them up for an epic fail. You go to overtime you basically have a 50/50 shot of winning the game anyway, same odds at the go for 2.
I guess if you want to watch the Cardinals possibly run up the scoreboard on the hapless 49ers with their pants down.
Wait, no one is pissed off at that completely bogus PI call that gave the chiefs 1st and goal at the 1 yard line? That was completely bull****, and Gonzales (who missed the catch) didn't even complain about PI himself. Refs are out to get the chargers or some****. Also Herm Edwards was trying to copy Mike Shanahan who won the game in the exact same fashion on week 2.
The Chiefs are clearly the inferior team and he figured their best chance to win the game was to hang it all on one play. I don't blame him for going for it. I'm not sure Herm Edwards is the problem in KC. The players continue to give it their all most weeks but they are severely under-talented. Wasn't it Gus Johnson that flipped out when Jake Delhomme threw the last-second TD pass against the Chargers earlier in the season? He sounds like a loon.
Let's put it this way, Herm figured they could pull what the Broncos pulled after a terrible call by the refs against the Chargers built some momentum.
I agree with this. It's not the logical football decision but KC needed something for their season. Dom Capers did the same thing against I believe the Dolphins (?), but it was succesful and we won, needed a win bad. Giants/Eagles game will be a good matchup. Eagles just scored.
I just think the Chiefs didn't have much of a chance getting the ball into the end zone from 2 yards away against a Chargers front line that crushes most opponents inside the 20. Their only option is to go to the air, and then all you have to do is cover Tony Gonzalez and the game is over. Herm set them up to fail, it was a nice idea, but... KNOW YOUR PERSONNEL.
John Madden just had the quote of the season on a Brandon Jacobs run... "That's a lot of power going into that hole"
Damn the Eagles are getting gashed right now. They have only had the ball like 4 minutes, if that much. Things are looking down in Philly at the moment.
I like the fact that the Eagles are putting the ball in Jackson's hands. That kid is something special.
Yeah but sometimes McNabb forces it to him when there are other options. I like him and I am glad they are incorporating him into the offense and special teams but go to other options if they're available. Whew! I thought it was about to get ugly there for a moment. 17-14 Giants lead.
Oh man, a Giants challenge in the 3rd quarter. This has the potential to be huge down the line as the Giants have already used one. They are challenging whether the penalty on Eli, illegal forward pass, was correct. The review that NBC showed it looked as if Manning was clearly beyond the line. We'll see what the ref says. Overturned.
