Yup. The touchdown that wasn't was only even possible because of the sack that wasn't. Interesting trivia: choke-holds are not, in fact, legal in the NFL. Texans win. Longhorns win. Coogs win. Redskins win. COWGIRLS LOSE. All in one week. Feels good, man. Feels real good.
That was the best possible ending because of how demoralizing it was. Watching the Cowboys and some of their fans in the stands celebrate, only to be deflated after the holding penalty, was priceless. The Redskins are pathetic and the Texans should beat them next week.
2 boneheaded plays to end each half lost it. 1 game down, doesn't kill the season, no need to panic in dallas. just ask the colts, vikings, and philly.
In Dallas' case, they should be more worried about New Orleans, Green Bay, NYG, Washington, hell even Seattle and Arizona. Because all those teams could end up being better than the mistake-prone, poorly coached Cowboys this year.
I'd love Randy Moss here, the guy is still an amazing player, I don't really have a problem with what he said
This is why the preseason matters...because often you get an idea of what you're actually going to see. Game 1 for the Cowboys' first team looked identical to how they looked in the preseason. Sometimes, you don't have a switch to flip. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/091310dnspotaylorcol.ea5cb6b3.html Guess we'd better pump the brakes on the Super Bowl talk. We'd probably be better served trying to figure out who lied to us about the Cowboys' offense. Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett . Wade Phillips. Tony Romo. Even Jerry Jones. They're all suspects. The Cowboys promised us a better, more efficient offense once the season started. The players and coaches swore the stagnant unit we saw throughout the preseason was the result of basic game plans and poor execution by players who wouldn't be on the roster once the season started. More than one member of the offense became indignant at any suggestion the offense wouldn't find a rhythm once the season began. "This is just the preseason," they whined. "This doesn't mean anything." Well, we're still waiting. This offense didn't have one productive moment during the preseason, so it was silly to think that would change against Washington – and it didn't.
Wilbon ripped into the Cowboys this morning... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/13/AR2010091300089.html Excerpt:
Alex Barron's hold may be the most overplayed thing all week. Of course he held Orakpo. Orakpo had him beat and was about to take Romo's head off. 90% of the tackles in the league would have done the same thing, and one or two of them might have gotten away with it. It's the offensive lineman's version of a Hail Mary.
I mean, how can that be denied? Dez Bryant was being hailed as the next Randy Moss without even playing a down in the NFL. They won a playoff game last year and you would have thought they won the title. The Patriots and Steelers have won multiple Super Bowls in that time frame, the Colts have been to multiple (winning one), the Giants have won a title, and the Eagles have won the division 5 of the past 10 years and have at least made it to the Super Bowl. Wilbon is right, the Cowboys have been more hype than anything in recent memory. Some things positive I can say about the Cowboys: 1. Miles Austin looks like the real deal. I was actually not high on him coming in to the season but he looks like a perennial Pro Bowl/All-Pro pick. 2. Tony Romo is a good quarterback. I'm still not ready to put him in the top tier like others have but he is good. 3. Ware and Ratliff are the only two defenders on that defense that worry me, everybody else seems subpar. Those two guys are absolute beasts though.
