Well I think we can say sacks are a part of defense and apparently Mario Williams plays defense, so this stat can back up defense, which is the top 9 teams that give up the least points per game have winning records. OMG!!!!
Using past history to guide your draft picks is ****ing r****ded. Draft picks are made based on the players that are available at any specific draft pick and based on what a team's talent evaluators think those players are capable of.
this is hardly a cleverly disguised troll thread. keep it up. we're really taking everything you say to heart.
Ok, lots to respond to... 1. Teams can win, even win super bowls without good qb's. No question, I never said they couldn't. In order to do so though you need really good players at every single position, especially defense. I said qb is the only position where a greta player can carry an average team. Look at Elway and the Broncos. Name one DE that carried a team to the super bowl? 2. Philip Rivers is killing San Diego, with a great qb they are 13-1 right now. Should have kept Brees. 3. Leaf wasn't drafted ahead of Manning. 4. I understand where Romo and Brady were drafted, but you aren't understading the point. Great qb's help you win super bowls more than any other position and it isn't even close. Do you want the Texans to take their chances on drafting a 6th rounder to help them win the super bowl. They had 3 excellent qb prospects to choose from. One in particular that wears #10 and stands at 6 foot 5, everyone in the world thought was gonna be really special. Peyton Manning, John Elway, Carson Palmer, Ben Roethlisberger, Steve Young, you aren't going to find those guys in the sixth round. The proof is in the pudding. Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels. Two average at best qb's.
Hey, every time I have taken a dump before a Patriot game they have won, anyone think that if I get constipated I can stop their undefeated season? Another example? Homer: Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a charm! Lisa: That's specious reasoning, Dad. Homer: Thank you, dear. Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away. Homer: Oh, how does it work? Lisa: It doesn't work. Homer: Uh-huh. Lisa: It's just a stupid rock. Homer: Uh-huh. Lisa: But I don't see any tigers around, do you? [Homer thinks of this, then pulls out some money] Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock.
Yap, complete coincidence guys like Brady, Manning, Favre, Elway, Steve Young, Aikman have so many super bowl rings.
Honestly, I like reading this guys threads. Everyone I read makes me a little happier about drafting Mario Williams over Vince Young. If these are the ONLY arguments that can be made by what is left of the VYOF, then its possible, just possible that after another year of Mario dominance and VY mediocrity at best, they may be forced to shut up already. And that will be a great day for Houston!
Uh scoreboard. Has Vince ever lost to the Texans? Are the Titans in the playoff hunt or the Texans right now? I'll take Vince's season over Mario's this year anytime. Vince is helping his team win real games. Mario's contributing to nice efforts in December exhibition games.
right, just Houstonians and UTers. Thats why he went #3 overall in the draft. Would've been #1 or #2 if 29 of other 30 teams has #1 pick.
It's a roll of the dice but no guts no glory in professional sports. There's 30 competitive teams in the nfl, got to take a risk on a player that may give you the edge. Pats rolled the dice on Moss and it paid huge. Rockets rolled the dice on Clyde and won a second ring. Mario was a gutless pick.
It's too bad the Titans don't have a quality QB or they would have already locked up one of the WC spots. Heck, with their D I bet K Collins would have already had them in the playoffs.
"Guts," indeed. Considering the criticism they've taken from the public and the mediots, I'd say they did make the gutsy move. And, so far, it's paying off. So, you admit the Texans are competitive. Good. I'd say the Texans have a defensive edge right now. The draft was billed by the Texans brass as building something for the future, and right now they're looking like geniuses: Meco, Williams, Bennett, and Okoye are all young and all appear quite capable. Outstanding job comparing free agent signings to a draft. Quite the opposite. Bush, the default (and nearly unanimous) #1 pick, would have been gutless. They went with what they saw was their best opportunity to build for the future, and they stuck by their guns even though an overwhelming majority of public and media disagreed. You obviously disagree, and you can call it stupid if you like, but it was far from "gutless". Last but not least, why in the hell do you insist on rehashing all this crap now? The draft was 23 months ago. Damn, just move on already. And stop starting new threads about 23-month-old business.
So if you were the Dolphins, who would you draft? "Studs" Matt Ryan, Andre Woodson, or Brian Brohm? Or those worthless talents like Glenn Dorsey or Chris Long. Oh wait, none of them go to UT so they must suck.
Never mind that I answered a post of yours earlier. Please don't respond. I really have no desire to talk to someone who believes one man can defeat 22 guys on the other side of the football. If you're ready to discuss the Titans as a team and how they've pretty much owned the Texans for most of their existence, that I'll discuss. Otherwise, you're teetering on the edge of my ignore list due to blatantly stupid posts.
I bet that Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Tony Romo would be "contributing members" to this site before starting idiotic threads.
