thanks to a lucky play!!!! had that moron not thrown his helmet on the field, Browns win! bet he's gonna have a long week back in Cleveland!
There are 32 teams and only 16 weeks of picks. You don't have to pick all the teams. (Although I realize that the Chiefs are in the top 16, and I"m gonna have to pick them eventually.)
That reminds me...is there any other coach in the NFL who is more of a pompous ass than Mike Martz?? He has an easy field goal try early in the 4th quarter, and the moron goes for it on 4th and 2. Thankfully, for me, the Rams don't convert, and the Broncos retain their 16-13 lead. Later, the Broncos score a touchdown to take a 23-13 lead, but it could have been 23-16. The Rams do get in position to kick a field goal (again) and make it to get it to 23-16. But they had to hope on an onside kick which they did not recover. Plus, I have never seen a team that good struggle so much with clock management. There is no doubt in my mind that the NFL is the toughest of all the professional leagues to accurately pick the Super Bowl champion. Yea, it is only 1 game and the Rams very could win the Super Bowl this year, but I find it laughable that I hear about the Rams being a dynasty. With the salary cap and free agency the way it is in the NFL, there are no dynasties.
gotta agree with ya Manny... what on earth was Martz thinking??? How can he be so cocky in a league of parity... Sure his defense was playing relatively well up to that point, but come on... with a chance to freakin' tie the game, he goes for it???? inexcusable.
Also, I wanted to say this: Was there a better story in this first NFL weekend of action than Robert Edwards, playing for the first time since the 1998 season, scoring 2 touchdowns?? I mean this guy was told that he would never play football again, might have to walk with a cane, and even at one point, may have his leg amputated. Yet, he never gave up, had all kinds of surgeries, and rehabbed like crazy. Now, he is back in the NFL as the Dolphins' backup to Rickey Williams and their 3rd down back. Just simply an incredible story, IMO. Edwards, also, should be considered an outstanding example of a role model to people that feel like giving up for whatever reason. It would have been so easy for him to give up, but he didn't. This has been a perfect weekend for me in football: my Canes slaughter the damn Gators, the Broncos beat the arrogant Rams, even my old high school team (which is lucky to win a game every season) wins on Friday night. But to see Robert Edwards come back and score 2 touchdowns was the best thing about it. Even if you are not a Dolphins fan, you can't help but be rooting for him. I know that I am.
I think I'm going to be sick. Why does Carter think that every pass should be thrown with everything he has...I still love the pokes. We need to find a QB w/ some touch.
The fact that the Cowboys lost and knocked 15 people out makes my pick of the Ravens at least a little more palatable. I figured the Panthers would be more inept than Baltimore...but noooo. So much for not picking the obvious in Miami over Detroit.
