Great job by his agent getting that deal. That guaranteed money is crazy. I don't think JaMarcus Russell will be a special NFL QB. Of all the leagues, the NFL is most suited for a rookie wage scale because of the hard salary cap. I don't understand why the union won't go for it since it's basically guaranteed the money taken away from rookies would go to veterans.
JaMarcus probably has the most ridiculous arm strength since Jeff George. He can throw 80 yards downfield. That being said Jeff George had a lot of great games and a lot of ****ty games. Hopefully JaMarcus can learn to be a consistent QB.
Giving these damn rookies all this money and they haven't stepped one foot on the playing field in a regular season game? That's f'n ridiculous. This **** has to stop!
Where's the video of him throwing 60 yards from his knees? I did a search for it and couldn't find it.
I wish the NFL had caps on rookie salaries to prevent teams from tying up all that money on a prospect.
i remember seeing a show talking about qbs that held out their rookie seasons and missed some training camp...wasnt a great list to be on.
. . . and If he breaks his neck and cannot walk again .. . the guaranteed money is all he will ever have for his troubles. because they will cut him and not have to pay his contract maybe just the insurance Rocket River
That is true of course. However, what makes him deserving so much guaranteed money up front compared to established players who had proven themselves? He could be a Manning or Leaf or any where in between at this point, he he has so far is potential to be another Manning. NBA rules are much more fair.
well calvin johnson got 27 mill (or so) guaranteed...the market was set. He was set for life no matter what. He didnt need to miss all of training camp.
Since the NFL is such a violent sport (see what happened to the Tight End for the Buffalo Bills this weekend) and so many contracts are not guaranteed, I don't blame the players for getting all the money they can. It's not like the league is going broke. About the only businesses in America that make more money than the NFL are the oil and p*rn industries.
