The fact remains that Tom Montana did not throw those 4 ints. Manning did. While Manning wins the statistics battle, Tom owns the post season. 3 SB rings make Tom the better QB. Is Manning even as good as Marino? At least Marino did something in the playoffs. http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Article.php?Page=139 What would Brady's stat line look like if the Patriots invested in offense the way Indy has? Of course, there's no need for New England to do so. Brady's proven that he can put up historic passing numbers, and win championships in heroic fashion, surrounded by a workmanlike crew. Manning has proven he can put up historic passing numbers surrounded by an all-star cast. He's yet to prove he can consistently put up historic passing numbers in the postseason. The bottom line is this: No quarterback in modern football history has crafted a career that includes a more impressive combination of stunning postseason performances, team accomplishments and eye-popping stats than Brady. Not even Peyton Manning. Tom Brady, in other words, is the better quarterback. Case closed.
You can quote stats all you want but this is the only stat that matters in the long run when judging qb's. No one knows that Broadway Joe actually has more ints than tds in his career. Some guy called Rome's show Monday and said that the Falcons backup should actually be starting (sorry I forgot his name).
I'd like to see Brent Pease's Efficiency. You should get some credit for completing passes to the db's too.
I don't understand what you're saying. What stat do you mean? Matt Schaubb is the Falcons backup. He's a second year qb from Va, who ran the same offense that we are trying to. I'm not dogging him out, because I think he's got a great head on his shoulders and I think he's a damn good backup, but he's putting up good stats in the PRESEASON against second string players.
wins and losses are a stat, they may not be the qb's individual stat, but they are a stat, that's what I was referring to. I wasn't saying that Schaubb wasn't good, I was saying that anyone suggesting Vick should be benched in favor of him is silly.
I understand that wins and losses are a stat. What you said was "You can quote stats all you want but this is the only stat that matters in the long run when judging qb's What is this stat is what I am asking. Are you talking about superbowls?
i'm not suggesting vick should be benched. i'm suggesting vick isn't worthy of the praise he receives. that he's not a pro bowl caliber QB. but he is certainly the best running QB I've ever seen.
I never said you did, I was referring to a caller on the Jim Rome show that I mentioned in an earlier post, unless that was you.
one members of the media most responsible for hyping vick is some guy named dan marino. i don't know who he is but he must not know much about the position of NFL quarterback.
Yep, and every coach in the League goes up to Vick after they play him and say, "Good game, you are something special." Carr can run, but he uses it as almost his last resort. Vick can run, but he uses his talent without hesitation. Im never in the business of saying who is the best because all QB's have their pro's and con's. All depends if you want the more traditional QB or the so called "Running QB" (I hate that phrase). However, if I were GM an Vick was on the board with all else others in the league now, he is who I would choose. And if his brother can stay out of trouble, you best believe he will also be a top 5 pick in his respective draft. I am taking any bets on that one...
Titans - Falcons superbowl is the way I see it. nobody can stop Vick. His talent overrides any throwing weakness. Proved it in the pros. Proved it in college. He's a freak.
Overrated is what you call a guy when you know he's good and deserves the props he's getting but you don't like him or think he doesn't deserve the props he's getting.
No, that would be idiotic. A better comparison would be Montana/ Elway/ Simms/ Young/ Favre/ Aikman vs Kelly/ Marino/ Bledsoe/ Moon/ Cunningham/ Esiason All impressive QBs and the best from the last 20 years. Difference is the first group will be remembered as Champions. As always, Brady PWN3D Manning.
... except for the Bucs, who consistantly shut Vick down and/or knock his overrated ass out of the game.
it's not that i don't like him. i do like him. everytime i hear him talk, i like him more. he seems to be a really nice guy. his teammates never have anything but good things to say about him. but i wouldn't want him as my QB. i already have a RB. i need someone who can throw from that position. who can open things up when the defense stacks the line. there have been good scrambling QB's before who have been able to throw...Elway and Young are the best examples. despite the hype, Vick is nowhere near that level. not even close. the eagles game was the ultimate testament to the criticism of michael vick as a QB. so put me in the category of "thinks he doesn't deserve the props he's getting."
