I think my frustration towards the Texans is probably a bit irrational, but ******* that pisses me off for some reason. I mean, let's face it, it's not as if we can hold ANY faith that the team will be able to draft competent players in the 4th and 5th round anyways. And Ngata, while obviously not in his prime anymore, still affects the run game solidly.
Hey I've said it for awhile. The Texans can't draft anyone outside of the first round so they should just trade those picks for players.
I had no idea about that. Damn the NFL salary cap for being so unnecessarily complicated. From this (which has already been updated!): http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/sam-bradford/ It looks like the Rams have $3.5MM in dead money, and the Eagles are on the line for $13MM only if they keep him, if I'm understanding that correctly.
Trading away Nick Foles for Sam Bradford makes no sense at all for the Eagles. Jeff Fisher must be celebrating.
Nah, I think they'd rather hold onto the delusion that they are just one draft away from keeping pace with the Colts. That and of course, the biggest free agent acquisition of our illustrious day.....Brian Hoyer.
It makes it nice for the acquiring team. You either work out or they cut you and they are free and clear.
Kelly doesn't like Foles. Eagles fans do not like Foles. He's just not their guy. If Bradford can learn to not get hurt I think he actually has some upside in that particular offense. I also do not believe they need a running option at QB. This isn't Oregon. Seems like most are infatuated with the Eagles getting a runner.
I think just the opposite - the threat of a QB run is even more critical in the NFL. The core principles of his offense are (1) accelerate the tempo to force the defense into a read and react mode and (2) force bad reads through that speed along with deception and misdirection. Because the holes are smaller in the NFL, the deception aspect is more critical to buying that fraction of a second to create a hole to attack. You don't have to actually run much, but the threat of it forces an instant of hesitation. In his good year, Foles carried the ball about 4-5 times a game just to keep the defense thinking about it. It helps make every other element of the offense more effective. There is zero threat of it with Bradford.

Demarco would be absolutely sick in the Iggles offensive scheme. Not that he wasn't a beast last year, but still.
 LOLs! It's going to be fun teasing Cowgirl fans they'll have one of their former best playing against them in the same divisio---oh... wait...
Were there picks involved in the Bradford/Foles trade? I don't understand why Philly would want to take on Bradford's salary. I guess the cap really doesn't apply to them.
Bradford provides almost zero upside to the Eagles even if he manages to stay healthy in some miraculous way. Kelly absolutely needs a dual threat QB. He WILL get Mariota one way or another. This IS Oregon at the next level. I could be wrong but even then I will be right because I don't question what moves Kelly ultimately makes. I believe he's a football genius.
Crazy day of NFL trades... 1. Seahawks instantly addressed their passing game. Losing their center will be an issue for a little while, but they will be fine. 2. What the heck are the Eagles doing? Its almost like Sam Hinkie was hired to GM the Eagles as well.. That being said...The Eagles IMHO is looking to get Marcus Mariota...and I am sure that a draft pick was exchanged. Furthermore, Sam Bradford last year of his contract...and considering his injury history...he could be a bargain for any future extension. This should also tell all of you...about how much Kelly really thought of Foles as his QB. 3. Getting Ngata from Baltimore, was a very shrewed move by the Lions. Dont really expect their defense to lag behind either.
