I will be a Packer fan for tomorrow. Go Packers! I have NFL Network so I will be watching from the comfort of my own home. Title Town vs. The Former America's Team. If MNF was coined in the 70's like the Dallas Cowboys "America's Team" and MNF changed Networks, the same can be said for America's New Team the New England Patriots.
Cowboys haven't won a "big" game at home in a while. So, it wouldn't surprise me if they lose this one. In fact, I could see us getting blown out going from past games that were considered "big". Think back to the "big" games last year we lost to New Orleans and to Philadelphia (when we could have won the NFC East)...not to mention the New England game this year. The last "big" game I can remember the Cowboys winning at home is versus Indianapolis last season. I would say I'm a bit apprehensive about this game because I'm wondering if the Cowboys can win a home game with so much attention and emphasis on it like this...even if I think Packer fans are a little too optimistic about their chances given Favre's track record at Dallas stadium. Their mantra is our mantra...the past is the past. You would think that the Cowboys playing at home would be an advantage but the recent history of "big" games tells us otherwise. I think the Cowboys are a more focused road team personally. So, even if we do lose, then it's still just one game. It may determine who gets homefield advantage in the playoffs, however, for which I'm not completely sold that homefield advantage is such a great thing for the Cowboys. While a Cowboys win would go a long way to answering critics and doubters, it's still just one game so it's not the end of anything should they lose. I guess we can hear all about how the Cowboys are pretenders if they lose. I think that will be excellent motivation going forward...especially if we face them again in the playoffs. It's hard to win two games in a row against a good team so a loss won't be that bad should it happen. There's just so much hype going into this game that I have a hard time believing both teams will live up to it and this will turn into the great game we all want.
'New America's Team'? Please. If anything, the Pats are the new Oakland Raiders. They promote themselves as the 'bad guy', not the good guys in white hats. That is still Dallas, and will remain so. Just look at the television ratings this year, it tells you all you need to know. As for the game, I would say that the Pack has a lot more to worry about than Dallas does: The Cowboys have not allowed a 100 yard rusher one time this year, and that was against bona-fide rushing talent, not undrafted practice-squad castoffs. The Pack is hurting right now, several players either out entirely for the game, or will be gimpy, mostly on the defensive side of the ball, which is not a good thing for them. Dallas' only player listed as 'out' is Terry Glenn. 'Boys will be able to stop their running game without loading up the box, meaning that they will not have to leave their gnat receivers uncovered to play the run. And Phillips' D is going to get after Favre like he hasn't seen this year, and while he may get a lot of his passes off before being hit, they will almost all be of the short little dinky variety, dump-offs and out-routes, and they will face a lot of 3rd and longs, and Favre will probably throw at least 2 picks on out routes that henry and Newman can jump. Offensively, we're going to put up the points - Witten is going to have a big day again I think, since they will probably sell out to double TO at all times. Probably will stay a close game for maybe 2 1/2 quarters, maybe through the 3rd, but we win going away, by about 2 touchdowns.
SHould be a great game...I think the Cowboys prove their dominance and win big... Cowboys: 34 Pack: 14 I don't have NFL network because of Time "f'n" Warner... Luckily, a local station is picking it up in Dallas...
Favre, come up with some huge games down the stretch and try to steal that MVP from Brady! Leading the Pack to a 15-1 record (yes, I know it's an unlikely finish even at this point in the season) would have to give Brett some serious consideration considering his lack of personnel support and complete lack of a running game (aside from Ryan Grant's few big runs here and there). Anyway, I think the Pack take this thing, and Al Harris renders TO useless for the game..
close game until the 4th then the cowboys pull away Final Dallas 35 Greenbay 24 I'll be watching from the comfort of home in HD and I know at least 4 friends will be coming over since they dont have NFL network.
I never said he did, John Madden is the one that said Favre was the "old Tony Romo" Woodson and KGB have been listed as questionable, I think both will probably play, but I don't think Woodson will be 100% with a bad toe, and T.O. is gonna give him problems, leaving it open for Witten and Crayton. GB has only given up 14 sacks all yr, but they havent played a pass rush like Dallas all yr. Favre hasn't had to deal with pressure all yr, and I think Ware and Ellis could cause problems for Favre and force him into mistakes. Combine that with the fact that GB won't be able to run at all, and if the Cowboys are putting up points Favre is gonna take more chances, and hopefully make mistakes. This is going to a hell of a football game.
I think Dallas will win by a FG but I'd take GB +7 if I were betting. GB is playing too well defensively and getting enough TDs through the air they should not be 7 point dogs to anyone not named NE. I'll say 27-24 America's Team .
I like the cowboys, and the only thing Im worried, its the deep passes, Maybe with a deep pass from Brett favre, the packers could win the game.
Been there, done that and it's happening again cowboy! <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g90/ignacio713/01asuper.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>
Uh, that game was played in the '90s which happened to be in the 20th Century. Now, we are in the 21st Century. So, my statement still holds true. But it was a nice try on your part.
The Cowgirls will choke like dogs, and their minions will have to wait until next week to crow about being "America's Team " Romo likes coming apart at the seams on the big stage, tonight will be no different. Also when you consider Cowboys TV ratings you have to remember that I, like many people, watch them compulsively to root for whoever is playing against them.
Ok, haters. Time to step up. And yes, the officiating was spotty at best, but it went both ways, so don't go crying over that. And yes, Favre was out, but he was out because a beat-down was put on him from the opening kick, so don't use that as an excuse. And frankly, since it looked to me like there were only 11 men on the field on that 12-men penalty, and then that fluke long run for a score happened, that should never have happened - and, since that complete other fluke of TO mis-handling the ball in the end-zone should have actually been a TD instead of an INT, this game's final score was a lot closer than it should have been. Cowboys were easily the better team tonight, and if not for those two flukey plays, they win by at least 3 touchdowns. So, it's so easy to come with all the hate. Now act like grown-ups and give some props where they are due. Cowboys are clearly the best in the NFC, and constantly getting better. Eat it, haters.
