    Ladell Betts 16-124

7.75 yards per carry from a no-name back. Pathetic. Texans need serious help in D line and linebackers.

Mark Brunell also set a NFL record for most consecutive pass completions, 22, in a single game. Any bets Brunell does not make it into the Hall?

I know this is dragging a thread up, but it's important to me.

Where is Kenny Irons expected to be drafted? I'd be suprised if by the end of the year there shows much separation between him and Peterson. He's a very good feature back. He's a tough runner that's hard to bring down, and he's definitely got the endzone explosiveness. I'd hate for the Texans to get Peterson with the 2nd or 3rd pick if Irons is available later in the 1st round. But I still think my first choice is the safety from LSU.

Yes, but he doesn't seem to have the explosiveness that makes Peterson and Irons so dangerous. And Arkansas was beating Auburn up front every play.

If you have a chance to draft Calvin Johnson no way you pass it up. He is hands down the best player on college football. There are more pressing needs but too bad. Use the rest of the draft for needs. I dont think we will be picking high enough to get him anyway but man Johnson and Johnson with Moulds would be the best WR core in the NFL. Hell trade Moulds for draft picks if and go with J & J.

There is only one free agent we should be looking at next year and that is Dwigtht Freeny. Having a front four that can get to the QB would make even our secondary look good. Not to mention that we would be taking him from a division rival that we are building a team to beat.

The colts arent going to be able to afford to resign him and keep Harison and Manning. They are going to be in cap hell if they do.

Use the rest of the draft on OL and LB's and we will be looking good quik.

So basically you see no need to do anything with the secondary...the weakest part of the team.

If Adrian Peterson is on the board by the time we pick, we better nab him. That would be amazing.

As much as we need defense, I'd rather have Peterson.

For some reason, he reminds me a tad of McGahee.

I agree although they do need denfense badly, they also desperatly need a RB. As far as the defense is concerned, I would rather them go out and get some proven free agents and spend a little money on some quality plaers rather than draft more young defenders

There was actually a decent reason that everybody passed portis. He was listed IIRC at 5'11", 198 pounds at the combine. He's put on 10 or more lbs, but I saw several people talking about him at the time like he might have to move to WR. He was first or second pick in the second round which isn't bad for someone with that kind of issue.

Peterson is closer to 6'2" 220. He reminds me very much of Walter Peyton the way he spins and jukes while breaking so many arm tackles. There is also IMHO a little bit of Eddie George, the way he runs upright and is so tall.

Ok, I remember incorrectly. But my main point really is that he slid because when he was drafted he was very light for a runnng back and the concern was that he was to slight for the RB position. Domanick Davis is a good example of what you get with a too-small RB. When he plays he's great, but he's injured all the time. People worried that Portis would be like Dominick Davis.

Back in the day when the Oilers drafted Ernest Givins he had the same issues. He was the best WR talent in that draft but at 5'7" 172 his size was an issue and he went in the second round, after Mike Sherrard at 6'1" 185 and Tim McGee at 5'10" 183.

I'm not a big fan of getting a RB that high, but there is a difference between a guy like Peterson and a guy like Bush....Peterson can run between the tackles. Peterson can catch the football as long as the pass is forward. Peterson can turn the corner on outside runs. Peterson has excellent vision (well besides his going to OU over UT to win a national championship).

Not as flashy as Bush. Not as fast as Bush. Much more dangerous.

I'll probably be in the pro-trade down group at the end of the season unless the Texans can get a CB, DE, or LT.

Do you think Bush cannot catch out of the backfield, turn the corner or have good vision?
