Hold your horses there. I wouldn't call our pro-bowl tight end expendable when we drafted a primarily blocking TE in the 4th round and a 5th rounder with a lot to prove. I don't think they'll have any big problems paying OD. He's not playing on questionable knees and hasn't turned down a significant offer at this point.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/chronicle/6393184.html Someone had to point out another Texas/Houston "connection"
Haha, wow. I'm not sure if you were making a joke about the rapper, or if you were serious, but this kid is actually from Houston. I went to the same high school as him, Fort Bend Austin. He was a heck of a player for us back then, and I actually heard he was giving up football to play minor league baseball for the Yankees. Interesting.
Kiper gave us a B+. Said that our first five picks should contribute immediately, and the other two should provide solid competition.
Yeah, heard the news this afternoon that the Texans had contacted him about a possible free agent signing if he didnt get picked up! Im really excited for Mike, his father and mine have been working together since we were both really young, but as far as minor league baseball goes, I believe he is going to pursue that if the NFL doesnt work out.
I like this pick, dude! Troy could be a steal! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3kbInOFqoLc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3kbInOFqoLc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Lined up next to Slaton, this could be a running to attack that is a treat to watch. I wanted them to draft him in the 5th round and we got him as a UFA. Makes me feel even better about the draft. Arian Foster is a good pick up, too. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uDfvypWLokk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uDfvypWLokk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
great draft. we got more athletic and physical. if you outhit teams in the NFL, good things happens. i'm optimistic.
The Foster kid looks good, and so does Johnson. Hopefully one of them will pan out to be the back up to Stevie. Oh, and LOL at the ref busting his ass on the sideline at the beginning of the Foster video.
I actually like Foster better. He looks like he's more physical and has some great footwork. Kudos to the Texans for knowing what talent could be had after the draft and not wasting draft picks. This might turn out to be their best draft ever.
Draft grades from the DMN's Rick Gosselin, probably the best and most respected NFL writer on the planet: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/042709dnspodraftanalysis.41a7b13.html
Broncos RB's : Knowshawn Moreno JJ Arrington Lamont Jordan Ryan Torain Correll Buckhalter Selvin Young They're going to have to cut 2 or 3 of these guys. No wonder the Texans didn't draft a RB If they let Torain or Buckhalter go I'd scoop them up in a second, and probably JJ Arrington too. Jordan is really the only one who doesn't intrigue me as a potential backup to Slaton.
According to him, the Texans had the best draft out of anybody? Pretty crazy to think about. Didn't seem like a bid splash or anything...just filled needs with solid players. You have to be excited about the direction of this team.
It seems like an abundance but Denver finished last season with seven running backs on injured reserve. Buckhalter and Arrington just signed 4 year contracts , which means nothing in the NFL, except they probably got substantial bonus money that hampers their cap. Heres a funny note I found: The Broncos signed former New England receiver Jabar Gaffney to a four-year, $10 million contract with a $3 million guarantee today.
Gaffney actually wasnt that bad when he had a QB who could actually throw the ball down field... Of course, comparing Carr with Brady is just...well, ridiculous.
I don't see anyway a team can keep more than 4, at the most, RB's on the active roster. It's tough enough to trim down rosters and keep depth everywhere. They might have to make a tough choice between Selvin Young and Torain (I'd expect Jordan to be a goner) if they don't want to eat that money they just paid Buckhalter and Arrington. They have Hillis (FB) that can run the ball too. Talk about a team without a plan, though. It's not like they couldn't have projected Moreno being available at #12...they could've avoided this situation by not signing those guys before the draft. Funny to see Gaffney cashing in on his Tom Brady success.
