TE's are to Houston like QB's are to Tampa.

Casey and Hill, despite both being "tight ends" are totally different players. Hill is a Bruener type blocker, and Casey is an extremely versatile player who is much more likely to catch passes or even take a handoff in a short yardage situation. Plus Casey can PASS, too. Both picks are sound

NO kidding. At first I was thinking that this team is insane picking up this many TE. If we trade Daniels, it better be for a RB.

For him to get on the field means you have to have Owen Daniels on the bench.

No it doesn't. First off, he'll contribute immediately on special teams. Casey can also lineup as a fullback and either block, take a handoff, or catch passes (he was 2nd in the NCAA in receptions, for crying out loud...)

Love the Casey pick. The young man can play and will bring a lot to the table for us.

Maybe they think the RB will be there in the 6th round?

With no RB drafted yet, I'm assuming the Texans are positive about Chris Brown making an impact this year.

    Yeah I agree,

I'd be pissed if we trade a pro-bowl TE that is still young.

Someone has to play TE when Owen Daniels plays QB in an emergency situation!

    j/k, I hope!

I agree with bigtexxx, Hill and Casey are two different type TEs. First off, Casey is a TE in name only for draft purposes, they don't have the "athlete" designation for the draft, so they list him at TE.

You can line him up in the backfield, at TE, at the slot, and even as the QB for a wildcat play.

If the word for the Texans this year is versatility, Thor is Mr. Versatility.

As an added bonus, no more Dillard or Casey to beat up on my Mustangs, lol.

Edit: Mike Mayock is pretty happy with the second day moves by the Texans!

Hey, I love the kid but he just doesn't fill any specific position or need.

You have Leach, you have Daniels, you have Dreesen, you drafted Hills.

It will take special game planning to use him at all in the offense, probably at some kind of slot receiver ... unless you are taking Danials out of the game or trade the pro bowler away.

On second thought, my boy who follows Rice FB told me that Casey has FB potential. Not sure if that means all down FB or just short yardage. But sounds like kid is versatile.

Sigh man I just hope we get one.

You can't...CANNOT depend on Chris Brown.

Wonder if the Texans are looking more towards the FA...maybe a Edgerrin James or something.

We have a need on short yardage situations as well as on special teams. He fills both of those. By the way - NFL teams don't exactly plug their gaping holes by using a 5th round draft choice. The fact that Casey can possibly fill a couple is a huge value in the 5th

Casey played many positions and has played as a catching back for a few games and excelled. We've drafted a lot of versatile players, and are players with a lot of upside. You do know that players are labelled as what they played as for most of their college career, not what they became, right?

Guys, Smith and Kubiak have constantly said that they want versatile players who can play on special teams in the later rounds. The Texans seem to be filling that and working on their goal line offense. One of the Denver running backs will do just fine as a back-up to Slaton.
