- I don't like the idea of diluting the schedule, even if it's only 2 games. I think they have a perfect balance right now where every game is meaningful but there is still just enough time to turn a season around if you start out slow. - It's going to be some ugly football with only 2 preseason games and less practice before opening week - Unknown players have less of a chance at being discovered without the full preseason - The most durable/lucky teams may be more prone to winning as opposed to the best teams Just to name a few...
I'd don't get why 99.9% of people are excited about this. We currently have a 20 game preseason and regular season. We'll have the same amount of games but fewer meaningless games. As far as injuries, there a number of season ending or month long injuries endured in preseason games.
Don't want it to be watered down with what would otherwise be bench/practice squad players when the extra games lead to injuries.
I'm ok with an 18 game schedule just because I want to watch more football but I think the players should be compensated more. Increased amount of injuries are a legit concern with them playing two more meaningful games.
I think the injuries thing is weird. Is anyone overly concerned about the teams that make the playoffs right now? The 8 teams that win a playoff game all play at least 18 meaningful games - is there any history of those teams suffering tons more injuries? Beyond that, why not move to 14 or 12 games if injuries are the primary concern? After all, there's no good reason that 16 is the perfect number - it's just what it happens to be right now. There are lots of injuries now, so maybe it would make sense to cut back on the season so we make sure the stars don't get hurt.
it should be 82 games. that has a nice ring to it. although my favorite player emmitt smith may have his rushing record broken then
Stupid. Dumb. Cut 2 preseason games, keep 16 regular season games... lower season ticket prices. Higher quality of games, each regular season game is still meaningful, more fans filled. More money for everybody. Super Bowl going to be around Valentine's day now?
This idea is pretty r****ded and based solely on greed. The games don't weigh as much now and injuries will be more of an impact. I love the NFL, but don't like this one bit. They better pay the players more, increase the size of the roster and possibly add two bye weeks. One change I hope they consider is adding an out of conference rivalry game to the slate i.e. Texans-Cowgirls or Raiders-Niners. That would bring lots of fan support.
Its TWO games, injuries will not have as big of an impact as so many of you are making it out to be. And pre-season games are just stupid, good riddance.
well now more RBs will get more chances to get to 2,000 yards rushing, and is not going to be so special, more records will be broken now. maybe preseason games are boring, but coaches need them to prove the rookies and think about who are going to cut.
Why should they get paid less while the owners just got to jack up the prices on two more games Why do people always feel other workers are overpaid . . but no one ever says the owners are overpaid? Rocket River
I don't like it too much. Injuries are a big part of the season, adding two more games is pushing it... I think the format they have now is fine.
