finally a thought out response. I dont know how the Suns can afford to keep SMarion / Nash / JJohnson / Amare on the same team with everyone making max or near max money now add KThomas. Well last season JJohnson and Amare are not making anything close to the max so they were flexible but this year and next will determine their future. I dont think we would be able to swing a deal with the Suns for SMarion even though he does look like odd man out. I have a feeling the Suns move SMarion to an Eastern Conference Team before the deadline especially since they will struggle next year trying to play a more conventional type of style. SMarion at the 3 w/ Tmac back at the 2 would be awesome.. im not really sold on Marion playing PF anyways. J
room4rentsf - I feel bad for you man...getting beat up left and right because you thought of a trade. If the clippers can get SAR, then they'll probably try to trade brand for younger players who make less or for draft picks. While expiring contracts alone won't get it done, but I bet you 2 or 3 first round draft picks + expiring contracts + TE will get them talking.
Nah smoking it is okay, even too much is okay. Just whatever you do, DO NOT POST HERE AFTER SMOKING IT . As for Well, TMac was getting traded reagrdless, our just happened to be the best package that Orlando heard. Wallace was never going to stay in Atlanta, he also had some head issues at the time (to his credit he has since straightened them out) VC, well would you keep someone on your team that has openely admitted to not putting in 100% every night? and who also didn't want to be there? I haven't heard anything from Brand about him not wanting to be on the Clippers (must be the first player ever to not want to get out of Clipp-hell), nor is he a complete nutter or headcase. Why stop there, I think we could possibly trade our expiring contracts, our TE, a couple of draft picks, a slab of beer and a pack of Doritos for Kevin Garnett. Cause after last years bombing and Sprewell (probably) not coming back and Cassell not what he used to be, we should be able to get him. The next step is to trade James and Sura (plus fillers) for Nash, cause his best buddy Q-Rich has gone. Oh almost forgot we need a shooting guard, so we sign Joe Johnson for the MLE, cause Phoenix won't match. So our lineup next year is: PG - Nash / LHead / JBarry SG - JJohnson / LHead / JBarry SF - TMac / JBarry PF - KG / JHoward C - Yao / Deke Pretty solid lineup that, and just as much chance of happening as us getting Brand. The Perfect Off Season.
..what are you smokin' roomforentsf? Give me some of that! Trade Brand for cap relief? ha. not likely
everyone is forgetting that we are going to have to pay yao max money soon to go along with tmac's deal and there simply is no room for another max contract on the roster. i'd love to have brand but cap wise it couldn't happen. get a role player at PF and let tmac and yao lead the way.
Feel free to share your mind-expanding acid with the room. T-Mac, and two bad contracts for a 3-time All-Star, a good SG, and a servicable PF/C is on par with Brand for an overweight 13 mpg backup PF and an overpaid, high-as-a-kite 9 mpg backup PG? Walk away. Walk away.....
Wow, thats a lot of moves, and I dont see Daniels even considering H-Town and SAR is going to the Nets I think, so I dont see Brand being moved. I could see a sign and trade for Swift (Wesley + pick, James+ pick or Howard +2nd rounder) and a signing of a vet. PG, namely Damon Stoudamire(no im not just saying this cuz T-Mac did). I dont see too many other glaring holes in our lineup. Word has that Memphis wants a Center or big man of some kind in a S&T for Swift, but it doesnt look like he is going to get too many higher offers than the MLE, so he could threaten to just leave outright to a division rival(us) leaving them with nothing in return, so I think a S&T could be arranged for less. As for Mighty Mouse, he is a quality vet. PG who can help take some of the ball handling pressure off of TMac without jacking up shots every time(JAMES). By the end of the offseason, I hope our line up looks something like this. PG - D-Stoud/James/Head SG - Sura/Barry/Head SF - T-Mac/Barry/Bowen PF - Stro/Spoon/Badiane C - Yao/Deke That leaves us with a 12 man line-up like that, with a couple people on the I.R. in case someone gets injured(Chuck Hayes?). That team looks like a contender to me, and the scenario seems possible. Tell me if yall disagree.
Why does everyone keep putting Barry in the lineup...hes a free agent that only wants to play here or he'll retire...but do we know if Rockets will resign him.....I think they'll sign Deke before Barry Hopefully we'll sgin both back... my starting lineup... PG-- ???? hopefully we can do something here SG-- Sura SF-- T-Mac PF-- Swift C--- Yao 2 Team...... PG-- James SG-- Head SF-- Barry PF-- Howard C--- Deke Its atleast somewhat realistic.......10 man rotation.....everyone else stick ur thumbs up ur you know what and collect ur last pay checks
Was gonna comment on this, but emjohn already took care of that. Room- the reason you're getting bashed for this is because it isn't going to happen. Is it possible, I guess, but so is Hakeem coming out of retirement to play PF for us. It's possible, but VERY IMPROBABLE. The problem w/ your VC for trash and Sheed for trash examples is because the Raps and Blazers were in extreme cost-cutting modes at the time. The Clippers aren't trying to cut any costs, hell, they had and still have quite a bit of money to spend. What would be the point of signing SAR and trading Brand for crap? That's like signing Cuttino and trading TMac for Alvin Williams and Matt Bonner.
because its Donald Sterling were talking about.. havent you guys read he is the stingiest team owner ever and would sacrifice his teams chances at winning to make more money (or save more in this case). http://espn.go.com/nba/s/2003/0417/1540659.html I guess im just trying to make the point if the Clippers sign SAR (who can put the same numbers as Brand) why do they need both? how old are you guys? very poor immature responses. J
We did manage to get TMac and Juwan for Cat, SF and Cato. We gave a little more there, but we got TMac. Having said that, i have a hard time believing that even Sterling is stupider than Weisbrod.
I don't think the posters of this bulletin board have ever been accused of being too mature... I think the main gist of the point is that EVEN IF: 1) Sterling is cheap and doesn't care about winning AND 2) Clippers are willing to move Brand AND 3) Sterling is willing to get less in return Still, common sense will dictate that Baylor will scan the market for offers, and the Rockets do not have nearly enough to get Elton in a competitive environment... Were some of the previous accusations of the posters mean-spirited and ill-founded? Absolutely! But did your post substitute overt optimism for realism? Absolutely...
here is my speculation. keep in mind i do not agree with everything here, i just think it will happen. - swift for MLE. - S&T sura, wesley, baker for DA and damon. - re-sign deke and JB. - sign spree to LLE. - trade james for a big. yao-deke- trade (medvedenko, a.williams, doleac) stro-jho-spoon tmac-da spree-JB-ward damon-head-moochie
