I've given up trying to predict where a free agent will sign, because their choices often baffle me. So, instead of voting my guess, I voted my hope, which is anywhere but here. Say no to Wells.
voted for every option but houston. bonzi would make us legit contenders. getting him makes this one of the best potential Rocket off seasons in memory. it's been passable so far but wells on board puts us over the top. w/out him we'll do very well to just make the playoffs.
19 times out of 20, the player goes where the money is. The money is in Charlotte so I think he will go there. The only thing that could save us is if Charlotte isn't willing to spend all of it give him more than a one year contract.
In the Char. Observer, Bernie said there is no contract offer to Wells on the table, that they wanted to deal with Ely, their restricted FA, first. That makes Miami and Houston as bigger possibilities.
I think he will end up in Houston..somehow the Rockets always pull off these signings when people think its not possible....i.e barkely, piippen, Stro
Although I don't agree with this guy alot of the time, this is exactly how i feel about the bonzi situation. Rockets.com However, you never know. Rockets seem like second best in all catergories (money, playing time, chance to win).
I picked houston because this is where I want him to play. Honestly, I haven't got any idea which team he'll pick, but he would do well here as a third scorer and a reliable rebounder.
Well, this guy is a mouth-piece for the organization but I really don't think he sounds any less biased than Feigen has over the last year and a half. That article in the Chron. this morning was just pathetic. It very much read like Feigen sent out some e-mails and the "experts" replied to the questions they wished to. Kenny's response implied some things that went beyond the roster IMHO, but no one else bit. I have to empathize with Feigen's position as beat-writer but I truly feel that he has his head up JVG's **s and everyone else in this organization including T-Mac and Yao are left to be skewered by JVG's often spastic quotes. For the next year I'm a JVG guy all the way, and I truly disagree with much of the criticism thrown at him. But right now he is the face of this franchise, more than Les, CD or the as-yet-to-be known Morey. No more fitting square pegs into round holes, a different approach to small ball with Yao on the court, and a willingless to look outside the box are all a must this year. I trust JVG to do all of that that more than he might want to get fired. We'll see.
Sign&trade... 4.2 mil. T.E. and send players or draft choice to Kings... Who do we send Luther Head, Snyder, Rafer, a draft choice
I think it comes down to Denver and Houston. Charlotte is all but out because Ely will tie them up. Miami has just backup spots for Bonzi, he will get the least amount of minutes there. Houston and Denver offer the most playing time, No income tax in Texas vs Colorado. I give houston the slight edge, although i wonder what the perception of management is after mike james fight and shipping stro back to where he came after just 1 year. I would be slightly weary of the management shipping me to FC Barcelona.
The most Denver can offer him is 1.2 mil in a straight signing. This means no Bird Rights also. SAC don't want to take any salary in a S&T either... I don't know if Denver has any kind of Trade Exceptions to make it happen. Rockets can offer 2.1 mil straight up and 4.3 mil in a S&T (for the purpose of Bird Right retention). So, that's the financial picture with these two teams. CHA can offer more, but they sound rather lukewarm about him. MIAMI is on the edge of the tax limit, so everything they pay him will probably means more than double that in terms of real money. So, I don't know how much they'd really offer Bonzi.
As much as i wanna see him playing for Rockets, I just cant picture him in Rockets uniform this coming season. I hope i'm wrong!
SnT is critical in signing Bonzi but unless the Rox are willing to give up a first round pick (CD isn't) it isn't happening. He goes to the Bobcats because they don't have to get into a bidding war with anyone and signing Wells for ~5M is a bargain for the Bobcats and twice what any other team can offer him. Bonzi is all about the money and him playing for 2.1M would be beneath his dignity.
