Gary Kubiak . He worked with Elway and Davis and has done a good job with Jake The Snake . David Carr reminds me so much of Plummer , maybe Kubiak could do a job on him as well .
an unknown would be better than Dom imo. At least with an unknown you have a chance at getting better. Capers has had his chance. Other than that one season great season with the Panthers(where he did have a some good vet talent in there), his teams have sucked and underperformed.
I know little to nothing about Ferentz other than that on that awful radio show "The Extravaganza", they used to interview him and mock his name. However he holds the most intrigue for me. I love Kubiak and his offense, but is a leader? Please someone with some knowledge give me a rundown of Ferentz and try to explain why everyone is interested in him when his team has underachieved.
Gary Walker was on 610 yesterday and he mentioned that it was Dom's coordinators that got him fired more than anything he did. I don't understand that, because as I understand it, the coordinators are under Dom, so if they are doing something he doesn't like, he needs to step up and do something about it. Walker b****ed and moaned about the version of the 3-4 defense the Texans had been running, saying it was different from ones he had played in in the past and he hoped they'd get a new D-coordinator in that would switch them to a 4-3. Walker talks a lot, but I thought it was interesting to hear that the Texans defense could have been greatly effected by the coordinator not knowing what he was doing (Fangio?).
His team has underachieved? He started with a 1-10 team in 1999 and by 2004, had 2 Big Ten Conference Champs, 3 straight years ranked #8 in the final polls and as of this year 4 straight January bowls. He did it with sub-par and injury riddled teams that just worked hard and found a way. If you want flash and pizazz, Ferentz isn't your guy. If you just want a guy from Texas he isn't either. If you want a coach that will take a mediocre group and make them contenders he is a perfect fit. Iowa Football is built on the running game, if he were the coach and we got Reggie, it could be a thing of beauty. All that said, I don't want him to leave U of I. Here is some info from the press release of his hiring at Iowa. http://www.uiowa.edu/~ournews/1998/december/1202coach.html http://hawkeyesports.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/060304aac.html Yearly Record Overall Games Big Ten Games Year Coach W-L-T Home Away Off. He sounds interesting. I didn't mean to knock him. I was dead serious in that I knew nothing about him. Also, I could care less whether the next coach is from Texas or not.
