I am still confused at why it is worth it in the first place to keep Easterby around? What value does he bring? This is such a joke. This Easterby is like a cult figure.
Trying to find personnel for a 3-4 D doesn't make sense to me in today's game. You spend the vast majority of time in a Nickel defense. That's what you need personnel for. 3 good Corners and 4 lineman who can generate a pass rush without a blitz. Why waste time getting a 3-4 NT when you're going to be in a 4 man front almost all the time? Why try to find someone to play WOLB (you often have to convert undersized DE) when it's seemingly easier to just find a 4-3 DE? The last time we had this discussion, before we hired O'Brien, the argument against switching was because JJ was a 3-4 DE, even though I think he's atypical and could play in any defense. I don't think that argument exists any more.
I agree man, game has evolved to way more coverage. And any benefit you have from exotic blitzes from 3-4 is nullified by quick release passing game. And I agree JJ can play pretty much any position on the line in any defense, except maybe the 0 in a 2 gap system.
I have to agree with Spears here. Trump buddy Bob McNair ran this organization like a plantation owner who was instantly displeased with any black player who didn't stay in his "place". Easterby is running it according to his version of "God's" rules and any black player who doesn't "conform" to his expectations of their "place" in the organization will find themselves gone - just like Dhop. Biennemy won't get a real shot here. This is simply a half-assed PR move. This is the type of BS you get when you "dismiss" your PR director because she's no longer a "cultural fit" for Easterby's prayer circle.
