I do see him as a top 10, and top 5 young-ish QB. Could be top 3 all around if he keeps this play up.

Watson and Wilson have almost identical QBR.
Wilson is 3 points higher in rating
Wilson is higher in completion percentage and ypg
Wilson has 10 more touchdowns on the season while Watson is having his best year in Int%
Wilson has been sacked more and has a worse defense than Watson.

So all the excuses you make for Watson not winning, Wilson has those and wins.
And you’re wrong with the stats saying he’s better.
One stat (interceptions) Watson is better in.
The rest are even or favor Wilson.

And Ben is a future first ballot hall of famer, comeback player of the year. He is up there in Watson’s range at his advanced age.

Hmm maybe we both need to define what are "excuses" for each QB .. some of the stuff you post in favor of Wilson could easily be used for Watson if not this year, in years past.

    My turn!

Watson eclipses Wilson in yards gained per pass attempt, AIR yards per attempt, = https://stathead.com/football/pcm_f...yrfrom=2020&player_id2=WatsDe00&p2yrfrom=2020

Russel Wilson is 32 years old .. you would think he would have it figured out by now right?

    Again ... Lockett/Metcalf >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fuller/Cooks

Pete Carroll >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anyone Houston has ever had.

Not a true apples to apples, but since you are dead set in making your point I'll keep playing along.

The one thing not mentioned and prob one of the biggest factors in why Wilson has those wins is coaching. I love Romeo, we all celebrated when BoB got fired, but neither of them can hold Pete Carroll's jock when it comes to coaching.

You can make whatever point you want. If you are comparing the best QB in the league and at worst the second best, to Deshaun, you’re going to lose.
Not one team would take Watson over Wilson right now.
Also Fuller and Cooks is a lot closer than you’re saying if you’re going by straight stats.

That’s not even factoring in Watson having the best WR in the game for his first 3 years.

Pete Carroll is a defensive coach who has the worst defense in the league.
I agree he’s a better coach than RAC but it’s not like he’s some savant on the offensive side.

And the other thing not mentioned is a Wilson plays in literally the hardest division in the toughest conference in the NFL

    Wilson is better than Watson.

He's also 7 years older than Watson and has been coached better his entire career.

Pete Carroll is a better offensive coach than BoB, and RAC is also a defensive coach. Either way I'd rather have Pete Carroll than any coach the Texans have had. Not to mention the incredibly stable organizational structure the Seahawks have.

I'm not saying Wilson isn't a better QB, because I believe he is. But I also believe he is the 2nd best QB in football and I don't believe saying Wilson is better is a knock on Deshaun.

I'm talking about this year; the stats don't back you up. QBR doesn't back you up, PFF doesn't back you up, passer rating doesn't back you up, TD/INT doesn't back you up. He is close to Wilson in all those categories. Only numbers that shows a huge gap is wins and losses.

I didnt even bring Wilson up! You did! LOL

All Im saying is that if on the fence evaluators like yourself are going to consistently compare Watson to the best in the game (and Watson BELONGS in the conversation), then this franchise is good at the position - "bloated" salary and all.

Eye of the beholder situation. I could not make the argument that Fuller and Cooks is better than Lockett and Metcalf, but maybe you can.

    Wilson has 111.5 passer rating
Watson has 108.6 for 6th in the league between Carr and Tannehill.

You are making up stats. And you are wrong.
Wilson leads the league in TDs. Better completion percentage, passer rating, wins, ypg, similar QBR and YPA, better YPC
While having a worse Oline and worse defense:

    Say it with me:
    STOP MAKING EXCUSES!!!

And the offense hasn’t changed, it’s still Ob and Kelly systems. The play calling and execution has changed.

His contract makes Wilson a peer. That’s not mentioning the way some are saying they are close (they aren’t)
Fuller and Cooks aren’t better but thats two of the top 23 WRs in the league in yardage.

    Carroll isn’t an offensive coach.
He’s still probably better than OB

The Seahawks have had a top 10 defense for the entirety of Wilsons career (good portion of that time with the best defense in the whole leage) - this is the outlier year.

Head coaching isnt about controlling a "side" of the ball. Its about understanding game theory in real time, and having a "feel" for the game. Carrol is a great coach and I think you may be intentionally selling him short just to keep romanticizing Wilson.

Head and shoulders better than both OBrien and Crennel - put together.

Kind of confusing when you will discredit any stat that disagrees with your QB take, but in the same breath bring up stats to prop up another comparison (among WRs now) and will go so far as to the "top 23" to do so! LOL

Deshaun is carrying a franchise single handedly, Wilson has never had to do that and he belongs in the conversation. Once his complimentary football is addressed he has all the tools to win a title here for Houston.

Man I am comparing a direct situation to a direct situation.
Watson is not carrying anything except a terrible record with a similar performing team as the Seahawks.

You guys wouldn’t get any push back from me if you would stop comparing him to the elite. He is not there yet.
You got one guy stating false numbers.
    Another switching the criteria.
Another claiming Carroll is an offensive coach when he doesn’t call a single offensive play.
Bottom line is, Watson is somewhere around the 7th best QB in the league. Some younger guys performing as good as he is that are on their way. Yet Watson is paid like the super elite. He’s not. That’s it, end of discussion.

Ok so you dont like WAtson because he got paid - got it! (i know i know - you DO like Watson LOL)

I didnt know Watson also played defense. Also called the plays. Also kicked the balls. Made the decisions to go for it on 4th downs.

I just think its lame that you would sht on Watson when his fans want to prop him up. Thats just me. You did it with Tanneyhill too - where has he been? Is Watson better than him in your mind now?

Its a fun convo - no need for bad vibes.

PS: Winning football takes more than a good QB - but you know that!
