Houston fans calling for Gannon based off of one game is a severe disappointment in the general football knowledge of the fan base for me.
This changes nothing on the hire. We can announce Demeco officially now and get to building for the next season.
The fact that the fan base has influence on this at all… which they apparently do… is part of this organizations problem. They could have had Gannon last year, but politics and bullshit got in the way. Now they’re primed to get Demeco… the popular choice, the fan choice (and thus, by extension the owners choice), but not necessarily the choice of the GM. And while I would be happy with either… I think it’s short-sighted to say that interest in Gannon is based on just one game. The Eagles have had a good defense all season, especially in the playoffs.
but it does. When you have no qb the whole game plan changes, the defense has to now come up with turn overs, cb’s now have to jump routes for pick 6’s/int, d-line need an early jump on the line for sack fumbles which can lead to offsides penalties and d looking undisciplined. I ain’t worried.
Who knows what the GM's pick is and who cares. He has hired Lovie and Culley back to back seasons which was also his most important job. Maybe that the fans actually do have some say, they might get it right this time. Feels to me like Demeco, backed by current and former players is the man for the job. Nick has failed at two coaching hires and botched the Brandon Cooks trade which ultimately costs the team the number one pick. Caseiro with a more fiery owner would have been canned already. The McNairs have always been extremely patient to their detriment.
dude…some random fans on Twitter being dumb is another way for you to attack the org? Like stop they’re already dead lol
Did I say anything untrue? Cal/Hannah are clearly going to do what makes the fans happy, and that’s fine (new uniforms, etc.)… but it’s also the opposite of how most good organizations are run. Honestly, can’t be any worse than what they’ve done thus far. I’m on board with Demeco… even if they’ll still have to eventually get another GM.
demeco is one of the hottest candidates in the world and turned down basically every other job open except maybe Carolina to pick HOU and you’re saying the fans are controlling Cal?
I agree with you. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that I think a lot of those Texans fans either had their opinion changed, or were swayed, by one game.
I think we can agree CJ going against the best team in CFB is not the same as Gannon going against a 4th string qb???
