That's exactly the impression I came away with too. It seems like McNair is extremely disappointed with the team, but is afraid to blow it all up just yet. It's clear that he gave Kubiak an ultimatum and that he is a lame duck next season if the team doesn't turn it around.

If Gary Kubiak is not a failed head coach than Wade Phillips is certainly not one.

Career record of 82-61. Taken 3 of the 5 teams he's coached to the playoffs (and the other two he only coached for a few games) And in his 9 "real" seasons as a head coach he's only had a losing season twice. Gary Kubiak has wet dreams about being as good a head coach as Wade Phillips.

    Marivn Lewis or John Fox
Lewis would be my first choice.

Yeah, whatever "search" they do is just a dog and pony show. McNair is trying to sell us on the idea that this wasn't already decided a couple of weeks ago but that's a crock of ****. He tried to pretend on Inside the Game that he hadn't come to a decision on Kubiak and the coaches yet. What a load of BS. Trotting Bum Phillips and Pastorini out at Texans practice to praise Kubiak was a joke.

McNair does care about public perception and he wants to make it look like they're being thorough in their decision making but in reality it's already a done deal. McNair was never interested in Cowher or any other coach and he's not interested in anyone other than Wade for DC.

The spicy, feisty, red-hot personality that is BATTLE RED FIREBRAND Gary Kubiak needs a side of plain vanilla to even out his keel.

    The answer is obvious:

It's time to bring him home......MR. DOMINIC CAPERS, COME ON DOWN.

    News Flash-

After a rough 5-6 start Coach Gary Kubiak managed to save his job by losing 4 out of the last 5 games

Watching Stanford play last night got me thinking Vic Fangio, again.

Here's a shocking quote from his bio:

In 2004, the Texans set a team record with 22 interceptions, which ranked fifth in the NFL, and returned five picks for touchdowns. Houston did not allow a touchdown for 13 straight quarters from Week 13 to 16, which was the longest stretch by any team in the league that season.

Nah, Manning had 2 TD's in that Colts game.

It's a typo, it was weeks 14-17 but games 13-16.

The Texans didn't allow a TD from the 2nd quarter of the Colts game to the 3rd quarter of the Browns game.

I heard that last nigh, too, and immediately shuddered. No thanks.

The guy I want to see on the list is Mike Nolan. Been my preference since they fired Richard Smith. He has the Shannahan-era ties but at least the guy has skins on the wall. I'll be shocked (irked) if he isn't a leading candidate, especially if the Dolphins' staff gets blown up.

I'm sure they conducted an exhaustive search and interviewed many candidates.

Oh yeah, they made this decision last week. Sorry.
