Rockets tried to trade for Jerami Grant and the Thunder refused. Rockets have strong interest in... Tristan Thompson... Nerlens Noel... Grant...Millsap... D’Anthony Melton...Harry Giles... Serge Ibaka.... Some are more likely than others... The big move would likely involve Gordon.
When did they try for this trade? Cu they traded him to Denver for a first round pick and a Denver first round picks has similar value as a rockets first round pick
Man, you guys dont ever value Gordon at all. No matter how many times the guy performs in the playoffs.
I see 3 options LTS LTS LTS Gonna be a tough choice, but I fully trust morey to get cucked by broke b**** Tilly.
One of Grant/Milsap is bound to shake loose you would expect. Would happily take either if they would take the MLE
If the Rockets can get a 4/5 that can defend, rebound and hit open shots for Eric Gordon and a draft pick, they will do i in a heart beat. The Rockets have plenty of guys that are guards.
I like Eric, but he has lost his explosion. Rivers can replace him. I do think it will be difficult to get a good big for him with his 3 yr remaining contract. Our draft pick is not likely to be high. Tristan may be obtainable at best.
Having four very good guards is a luxury, but it is one we might need if we decide to cut back in Harden/Westbrook’s minutes in the future. If Harden has a great playoffs he might begin to actually reduce his load. However Gordon has been TERRIBLE this year. But, he has been a great performer every year in the playoffs, so I expect him to show up again. He’s better than Grant
Yeah, I've always thought it a foregone conclusion that EG+ spice would be swapped for a damn good 4/5 when allowed. I love Eric and his evolution from all star talent..through serious injury...learning what it takes/appreciating it all..becoming a true pro..dare I say... leader...accepting of being the "role" player, then turning it up and into a big game player on the largest stage. For us. Always a Rocket! BUT, he's our only piece that gives us real flexibility for a younger player of equal talent where we need it. There is also, regrettably the high downside risk of injury..at this point. EG needs to play on a veteran team in a ROLE. Anything beyond that exponentially increases his risk of injury and decreases his efficiency.. Including him being pushed beyond those parameters here.
You know, when Horford signed that deal, I thought...he's already declining/doesn't have it...just a horrible contract. I still don't llke the deal, but it doesn't smell as bad. Al's showed that he's still capable of bringing it..strong. The guy really surprised me last year. Needless to say, AH would greatly benefit from playing with James and within our system...might help us when a title. But he's likely to drop off a cliff at some point..which wouldn't hurt very much if we won all.
I imagine Philly fans are quite horrified by the contract and would say the drop has already happened
There were times this season where he helped carry them. Horford would operate well with our backcourt, a floor spacer who can still hit the boards a bit. Underrated D. Poor Man's KLove, at this point. Sixers with all that talent....one ball...lots of players/egos. Al needs to play on a veteran contenbder. And, yes, the, now known commodity, that overpriced contract. Horford + picks for EG.
Replenishing some picks would be nice, but the problem is what do you do with them? Can you get much for a combination of late first rounders Covington? He’s be our last tradeable asset and we wouldn’t want to part with him The money doesn’t add up either. Al makes over 10m more than Gordon does next year. Would need to add House and a couple of minimums just to salary match. And then once you have Horford at 27m, we wouldn’t be able to use the full MLE. So Horford for EG is really Horford for EG, House and the loss of possibly being able to get a guy like Jerami Grant at the full MLE
Grant is the best option now and going forward for us. His fit and friendship is much needed as we retool. Is there a way move EG & our last pick for a lesser cost player and use the cap difference between the two players and the MLE for Grant? Maybe Grant signs for the MLE the first year with an increase in salary next seasons to cover plus a tip for his troubles. 2+4+4=10 vs 3+3+3=9 this gives us one season of EG and Grant, too.
Grant would be a dream! He’ll get more than the mle, though edit-oh he’s under contract for 20-21. I don’t know if we have pieces to trade for him, but god id love him (I don’t want to help Denver, though)
