So what, it's his niece? Being related to someone doesn't make you anything. Typical nepotism huh? She's a conservative who supported denying gays the right to marry? She's the oppositve of MLK - the man would never agree with her view points.

King was a liberal by the way as you define them. So was Ghandi and MOther Theresa.

That to me is what is so ironic about you embracing these people - their ideology is as liberal and left as it gets.

... that's because I was once married to a militant feminist, so you see.... it's not my fault!

Militant Feminists used to burn bras; do they still do that? Does that count as violence?

    Exactly.

Look, I am NOT a fan of these tea-baggers AT ALL. But it's quite a leap to call a bunch of bored housewives/retirees/talk-radio listeners/Facebook warriors sitting in lawn chairs and holding up stupid signs "terrorists" or "nazis" (unless you're as funny as King Cheetah).

Yes, these tea party boobs are amazingly annoying and ignorant, but ultimately harmless IMO.

Giddy, you're the first to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect. Your sensibilities are shaken by the slightest defect.

You live your life like a canary in a coal mine. You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line.

Hay doodz, you know what sounds like fun? A thread arguing over the minutiae of what constitutes "militant".

Well at least they admit that they created the Tea Party to be part of the GOP.

Along with the admission by Steele that the GOP has nothing to offers Blacks we are finally getting some candor.

When are the Dems going to wise up and realize that real populism will trump the fake populism of the elite organized Tea Party?

All in all, it's a deliberate use of a word that is intended to energize and consolidate their base and scare those in power with it's rhetorical ambiguity.

No, I don't think he means they'll do anything "militant" (see definition relating to combat) but he could have used any other word if he wasn't trying to capitalize on the fervor present in those ranks. Vigilant?

Deliberate. If you're not on their side, a terrible choice of words. If you are, well, he couldn't have chosen any better and the response seems to be to get in other's faces and say "WHAT?"

My computer doesn't show videos. I can't see any video. I mentioned she was part of the open housing civil rights protests. Where did I say anything about the movement ending with the assassination?

I didn't belittle anything about her. I said, correctly, that she wasn't in any of the activities that MLK was involved with. By using MLK's name I thought you were hoping some of his radiance would shine on her just by her blood relation.

I was merely pointing out that it isn't like she was an organizer alongside MLK or anything like that. I'm familiar with Alveda and at least some of her work.

Yeah! Just like Ronald Reagan kids being registered democrats means Reagan was a liberal hippie.

Seriously this is foolish. Its obvious in the context that Gingrich meant he didn't mean terrorist.

THis would be like saying, "the Rowdys are rabid Rockets fans" and claiming that means they will actually go out and bite people.

Back on topic. I think that a fair part of the Tea Party is already the militant wing of the GOP but my predicition is that within a year or two the Tea Party as an independent movement will dissipate with many of the people ending up outrightly in the GOP or breakdown into other movements. While anger is a good way to get people motivated its hard to continue a longterm movement based upon such, especially considering that many in the movement are angry over diverse issues that conflict.

Not at all irrelevant. It shows a modern, dominant use of the describer "militant" that in no way suggests terrorist or terrorism.

I go out of my way to be civil but a few here just like to be provocative and make it personal. You know who you are.

imadrummer2k, you don't post in here much so how do you really know what the climate is like?

Yes, my sensibilities do get shaken but some of the churlishness in here is pretty brutal and it's coming from the left not the right.

    Got a tape measure handy?

Step 1: Measure your head with a cloth tape measure, fitting it comfortably about one inch above your ears.
Step 2: Take note of your size.
Step 3: Find your hat size by reading the handy chart that converts inches or centimeters to hat sizes.

    Adult Sizes

    INCHES CENTIMETERS HAT SIZE
    Fitted Easy Fitted Stretch Fitted
    21 1/4 53.9 6 3/4 Small (S) Small/Medium (S/M)
    21 5/8 54.9 6 7/8
    22 55.9 7 Medium (M) One Size Fits Most
    22 3/8 56.8 7-1/8 Medium/Large (M/L)
    22 3/4 57.8 7-1/4 Large (L)
    23 1/8 58.7 7 3/8
    23 1/2 59.7 7 1/2 XL Large/XL (L/XL)

    24 1/4 61.6 7 3/4 XXL

Militant, libpig, racist, bigot, terrorist, nazi, socialist, wingnut, ad hominem.

It is always entertaining to read folks different partisan defense of their own little slice of the pie.

    giddyup rules you all.
