No, I don't consider that journalism because they just took whatever mouthed to them from "aids" - there are thousands of them. They didn't do any verification or collaborations, unlike Woodward, who usually try to get more aspects of the story. Plus, the writing is selective, depending on who win or lose. If McCain had won, you bet they will run a different "how he did it" version. Those stories values are mostly for entertainment.

You mean they interviewed sources and then wrote a story about it?
Yeah that sure isn't like any journalism I've ever seen - what's your journalism background by the way? B.A. from Idaho, maybe? Is that were you obtained your insider account of this insider account (where you claim that every single thing in them is unverified and not co[rr]oborated?)And yes, if McCain had won, the story would be different - because the facts would be different. Duh

Seriously - I didn't get your beef at first and I still don't get it.

How do you know any of this?

If I can't take something from a journalist under consideration, it's much harder to believe some guy on an Internet message board.

Does ex-girlfriend being from one of the top journalism program, or having done translation live for AP reporter count? ;)

I'm pretty sure B.A. in journalism from Idaho is more significant in understanding the field than anything they teach in law school. :p

Tell that to the former advisors who are now leaking all this inside baseball stuff. The battle for the 2012 GOP nomination is just beginning.

Actually, the process of sorting out what the GOP is going to be about is the more immediate matter.

So you're taking credit for what your girlfriend did? I'm confused.

Same here. For someone arguing about journalism, he's not getting his point across in words very well. I'm really confused.

Why? Pal around with Bill Ayers on a board of advisors, and you are equivalent to his behavior of 40 years ago.

Saying you equal the journalistic talent of a friend you spend time with is overwhelmingly obvious in that world.

    WOW!!!

Picking Rahm Emanuel as COS might be Obama's best cabinet pick.

Oh yeah.... This book is going to be fascinating.

Dude, compare Woodward's Plan of Attack to State of Denial. Two completely different accounts of the Bush administration. Woodward depends almost exclusively on anonymous insider sources, and he was spun badly in this case. His reputation was built substantially on quoting one guy, Felt. For confirmation, a second source, he and Bernstein would say things like, paraphrasing: "OK, if you don't say anything in the next five seconds, I'll go with the story." The Post got burned once on this during Watergate, but it didn't matter, because Woodwards' main source, Felt, though with an axe to grind, was solid. Woodward is the king of insider sources. Also, in terms of reporter embargo, you do realize Woodward only writes books now, and withholds info from the Post reporters, his colleagues, until his book is published, right?

If McCain had won, we'd get the opposite story, "How He Did It," because McCain would have done it. The facts wouldn't change, but yes, there'd be different emphasis placed. I'm on Chapter Five now. This sure reads like good reporting. I'll match Evan Thomas up with Woodward any day.

Reporting from Phoenix -- Sarah Palin left the national stage Wednesday, but the controversy over her role on the ticket flared as aides to John McCain disclosed new details about her expensive wardrobe purchases and revealed that a Republican Party lawyer would be dispatched to Alaska to inventory and retrieve the clothes still in her possession.
