If Obama didn't announce it, those right wing nut job sites OMR goes to would report the Senator as covertly flying to some secret island with a terrorist training hideout.

There you go again... an entirely predictable post using the same tired words. Your shtick is old and the rhetorical Molotov cocktails you throw just to see how much chaos you can cause are coming up major duds, just like your candidates.

Besides, I'm not sure why you're upset that he'll be in Hawaii... this should be the perfect time to drop that big surprise you've been touting for months... especially with McCain pulling out of CO, IA, and NM today. Because of the time difference, McCain could now own an entire news cycle before Obama even wakes up.

Oh, and we're still waiting on the Kenyan emails. Thanks.

People follow Obama like lemmings. He is the anointed one, and his word is like gospel. I was discussing politics with a couple friends today, and they don't even know what issues Obama stands for... They just keep repeating his campaign's talking points... basically saying "I don't know. I don't care. We just need CHANGE!"

Also, I think getting endorsements from hollywood actors, etc. actually turns off most of middle America.

If we really want change, we need to have more than just two political parties controlling everything. And, we need to stop hiring career politicians to fill the presidential office.

We need a guy like Ross Perot in this thing. That would stir things up good.

    Barr/Root '08!!!

I don't admit that. The last thing I am looking for is a fight. Especially on a sports board and one that I am very found of.

I called him a coward because I believe what he is saying to me he wouldn't say in my face. He reminds me of the Bomber Pilots in vietnam who found it easier killing because they didn't see the people they killed. But I could see the VC's eyes that I was supposed to kill. It is no longer an imaginary person and it is the last thing I wanted to do. Watching them die in front of me was one of the worst experiences in my life. I hated it and I wasn't a very good soldier because of it. That's why I know I am not a macho guy as A3PO suggests. But I do know when someone is talking **** it is better to look them in the eyes. If someone calls me a dick I can respect that more. I may still react but at least it is real.

P.S. TO A3PO - I know you are not scared A3PO. We will never meet and if we did I am sure you wouldn't act like a dick.

Oh, and you don't think a segment of the population follows whichever candidate like sheep? Please. Like McCain doesn't have sheep followers. The presidency is not just about the economy- it's about international diplomacy, and infrastructure growth, and technology expansion, and strategic planning, and human rights initiatives, AND the economy. I have this image of Ross Perot representing our country- wow. That's a sore blast from the past.

Hey, fair enough. Wow, this part of the board can be intense. It's just so much easier for Carlos Boozer to be the villain, ain't it?

You're right. McCain does have sheep followers... like a couple on this board.

But, I live in San Francisco, and believe me, Obama is god here.

Damn. I'm not really interested in the outcome as I'm not American, but that really hit me hard. I pray for them.

    Ron,

Please don't pay attention to what Palin says... NYC is absolutely part of America and quite "real."

Of course, it's San Francisco. I live in Lubbock, TX- I live on a block with McCain/Palin posters on half the yards. The thing is, my neighbors are all really cool people who go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. We respectfully chide each other over our political leanings. But it ain't a place for an Obama supporter, let me tell ya. I'm the proverbial black sheep of the neighborhood, but it's OK. It'd be boring if we all agreed on everything, anyway.

San Francisco? Went there 3 years ago. Absolutely beautiful. Embarcadero, the Presidio, GG, the Mission Dolores- just love, love that city. But ya can't possibly live in a place more liberal than SF- if you're conservative, you just gotta deal with it. And liberals really aren't bad, neither are conservatives. It's just the fringe element that is scary on both sides, although I'd respectfully have to say that the far right scares me way more than the far left.

You know I felt this way during the primaries and still have some doubts about Obama but really is this the thread to be bringing this up?

I will leave the bashing of posters aside for the moment to say that no matter what our political opinions might be I think we all, I hope, all feel sympathy for Obama's family and that while it seems like his grandmother might not survive this illness we would still give our thoughts and prayers to her, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I mean I've seen Clutchfans gladly come out and give our prayers and sympathy to people we don't know outside of a username are going through trying times so I know there is certainly enough humanity to here to feel sympathy to a fellow human.

One rule I've tried to follow on internet boards is to never write something I wouldn't say to anyone in person. Of course that just means I am more of a dick in person than I am online...

I agree that this wasn't the best place to bring it up, but I have a natural distrust of politicians, and feel that every single thing they do is calculated - this being no exception.

Who knows if this really is a ploy to garner sympathy? Can we really trust politicians? Everything they do has to make them look good.
