Yes, if you post ignorant hateful nonsense, you'll get called out on it. That's generally considered a good thing by people that value basic decency.

Old Man Rock apparently doesn't realize that a presidential candidate has an incredible responsibility to his party and his supporters to campaign to the best of his abilities. That is why he can't just disappear, out of the blue, without explaining why. And it's also why there is nothing wrong with him trying to make a few quick stops on the way to see his grandmother.

This is what responsible people who have to juggle multiple priorities do. They don't just drop everything in one area, and rush to the other. They try to find a reasonable balance. Obama right now has two priorities -- a professional one which is his campaign, and a personal one which is his ailing grandmother. He's doing his best to tend to both of them. Knowing very little about the circumstances in his personal life, who are we to judge?

Well he was referencing one person here. Why reference a group of people because there are those types on both sides.

If you didn't already learn two years ago with the V-Span nonsense, being an internet tough guy is just stupid. Get over yourself. When you start a flamethread and get burned, don't get offended. If you can't take the heat, don't warm it up Mr. Macho. Calling someone a coward after starting something like this is incredible, but I'm sure you don't even realize that. You've indicated being older, but you post like a child sometimes.

Take a deep breath, step back, read some of your flameposts and try to see how you come across. You have no idea.

Because I reacted. I read the Rasmussen polls that in spite of the fact that Obama is outspending McCain 3 to 1 and the Economy bombed, McCain was moving up, and I heard on Fox McCain may be really taking off the gloves now. And then I saw the alert that Obama was leaving to Hawaii to visit his ill grandma and I thought, WOW, what terrible news but what timing.

In Hindsight I shouldn't have posted it. Not because more posters hate me or hate me more but because it served no purpose and in the end I have no proof. Plus I know on sports board I am not going to perusade a group of mostly hard core liberals. I reacted... If only I was as grounded as you.

I am not the one talking macho. I know I can't pop you in the face across this board. That's why I call you a coward for saying things on this board that you would never say face to face with me.

So you admit that you'd used violence against someone for things that they are saying to you on a message board? Can't you use logical arguments or insults rather than threats of punching someone in the face? Man, no offense because I generally enjoy what you say, but you should be past that at this point in your life. Yes, I'm lecturing- when it comes to threats, a lecture is in order. You don't need that, anyway. The pen is mightier than the sword.

Or, the microcomputer is mightier than the handgun. Maybe.

    Just use insults. Something like:

"You're so stupid that when you were younger and went to the movie theater, it said 'under 17 not admitted'- so you went and got 16 of your friends." You know, stuff like that.

You wouldn't announce it? You would just let tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of supporters and voters show up at venues you scheduled to be at?

That's how you would treat your supporters?

He can stop in any state at any time he wants. He has a better idea what the urgency or lack of urgency is and when he does or doesn't need to be there than you do. I don't think he'd give up a significant portion of the remaining days left in the campaign if it wasn't serious. So to pretend like he's either not taking it seriously by stopping in Indiana, or that he's putting politics ahead of family is ridiculous given how little any of us know about the situation.

Here's a thought, let me know what you think about it.

Obama knows the negative ads will hurt him in the run-up to the election. That's why he pre-announces his trip out there (to get the sympathy before he actually goes) and then hopes the sympathy grace period will halt the effective ads until his televised speech on the 29th. This is a ploy and should be called out as such. He's using grandma's health as a shield against negative ads. Because who would run a negative ad while he's tending to a sick granny?

Or the last remaining member of the family that raised him is dying and he wants to be there with her. Nah, that's naive.

So did he also make his grandmother sick, or was that just a happy coincidence for him?

Here's a question: In what way could Obama have reacted to his sick grandmother such that you wouldn't try to spin it into something negative?

Wake up. Do you really think it's plausible for a presidential candidate to put his campaign on hold 2 weeks before an election, for any reason, without giving an explanation? And so what if he finds a way to squeeze in another rally or two on the way out. Yes, his grandmother is ill, but that doesn't change the fact that he's running for President. They don't get to call timeouts.

You've got it backwards. McCain's ads hurt Snobama.
