They can when the coaches would rather play their young rising stars than worry about giving Stevie playing time and the owner formed Microsoft and has 83 gazmillion dollars to throw around.

It's funny, we here in Houston have high hopes for Steve Francis; yet it appears nobody in the NBA wants him! Portland, New York, and Orlando gave him away for a bag of peanuts.

I for one would still cheer for him in a Rockets uniform.

i still cheer for him regardless of what uniform he is wearing, except when playing the rockets.

one of my favorite moments of last year was the knicks/wizards game when he hit the game winning three and stood up on the scorers desk taunting....in washington!

I have a better idea. let's trade away Yao for Kobe. That way, we are fastest team in the league playing under RA. heck, we'll blow out the suns by 20 points on any give night.

Latest thing I heard was Francis going to the LA Clippers to be reunited with his best friend Cuttino Mobley. Actually a great fit for them since they are old and injured in the back court.

Paul Allen owns the Blazers. That Bill Gates partner. Him buying out Steve Francis is equal to me buying a half-bag of skittles.

Ya but we didn't pay much for him. If I recall, the other team whoever it was..ended up paying the majority of his salary to make up for the salary difference.

There's a difference between having 7 guards and 7 QUALITY guards.

I could see SF as a backup shooting guard, but as a point guard I'm having serious doubts. When he was with Houston, he was as athletically gifted as anyone in the NBA. He had great speed, great hops and was relentless. He had 2 glaring problems though, too much dribbling and couldn't run a fast break effectively to save his life. The latter is what concerns me the most. Has he been able to correct this with his time away from Houston? If Rick Adelman does want a more uptempo pace, then this will be an important issue if we're bringing him in to run the point.

that's never going to happen, but that is one of the most exciting trade "dreams" ever.

I hate kobe as a person, but i respect that he is the best player in the league. With him and mcgrady, our team would have a ridiculous amount of firepower.

On the other hand, Yao in LA with Odom and the new kid, Sun Yue, would be a marketing team's wet dream. If they got some shooters, they would also be a legit contender. Imagine odom actually having a big guy to pass to, he hasn't been able to exhibit that in a while because of stone hands kwame brown.

....all because of the contract we gave him. I know, though. It really is tragic because he's still one of my favorite players in the league too and it sucks seeing him as a shell of the player that he used to be.

Back in his Houston days, aside from the migraine year, he was very durable, reliable and tough. A super athletic, dynamic and basically unguardable guaranteed 20/6/6 a night. Now people act like he's some kind of Keyon Dooling level talent that's barely even worth a risk and the best part is he's only two years removed from a season in which he played 78 games and averaged 21/7/6. But he's all done, right? ;)

Still think we should get Francis and Artest and we will be right in San Antonio's face contending for the Western Conference title.

This whole idea of Francis potentially coming back is another point that perplexes me about picking Brooks in this draft. Before the draft we heard countless whispers of Francis wanting to come back to Houston which basically means if he actually gets bought out (very likely, regardless of which team) and we played our cards right we could have him.

Okay, so we trade Howard for James. Clearly, that means Moneyball intends to keep James and add him to the rotation. That's one quality PG right there. Then with the knowledge that Francis wants to come back as soon as he gets bought out in mind, we still draft Brooks. I don't understand it. I don't want to condemn Brooks before he gets a chance to prove himself and for the record I am excited to see what he's got, BUT I do feel that there are plenty of players out there exactly like him. You can't exactly say the same about Francis.

Nevermind the fact that we still have Alston, V-Trash, JLIII and (technically) Sura all under contract. Adding Francis is probably too difficult and illogical now unless we make some series moves to clear this log jam of rotten logs that we have.

V-Span is gone, perfect time to bring back the Franchise. A backcourt of James/Francis/Brooks looks very scary. Honestly, I rather have Stevie start. He is poised for a comeback year if he comes home.

Actually, I live in NYC now. What I see the few seasons is a little different from your cousins.
I see a more mature player. He only takes about 10 shots per game now, and spend more time passing and not to be his old "score-first" PG. Well, he can still be a very good player we once had, but all he needs is more playing time....
