Smart post is smart. I'm as disappointed with Brooks as anyone, but it's like selling a pure silver coin when the silver market is at an all-time low. He will be depressed, but he won't hurt the locker room. And if he does hurt it this season, ... what's the impact exactly? We still stink as a team.
Thank you. Selling low has never been Morey's philosophy, and I dont expect it to happen in this case. Houston knows what Brooks can do more than most teams. Now buying low has been his philosphy, which leads me to believe that they are more than likely to resign him in the offseason if the price is right. Which it should be given the kind of season Brooks has had.
Do you guys think we could maybe get an unprotected 1st round pick from the timberwolves for AB? They have decent players in their starting line up except at point guard.
[rquoter]A report in New York had the Rockets eager to dump Aaron Brooks, and that the Knicks were mulling a deal. The primary point of the report, that the Knicks are interested in Brooks, is entirely accurate. According to two individuals with knowledge of the Rockets' thinking, the Rockets are not mulling a deal because so far there is not one to consider, and the Rockets are not looking to dump Brooks. Not even close. He could be moved by the deadline, which has been true for most of the Rockets roster since Yao Ming started limping Nov. 10, long before Brooks stalked off the floor on Saturday. The Rockets, however, are not in talks to deal him and really don't want to. Dumping him now would be incredibly short-sighted for a team looking to make moves much, much more significant than thinning the roster. Brooks could be a key to a deal to come. Or if he stays, he could be a key down the stretch. There is a reason Rick Adelman was playing him late in games almost every night, even while he was struggling. The Rockets have waited this long to make a move. They're not going to make it even tougher just because one guy had a temper tantrum.[/rquoter] http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2011/02/with_trade_rumors_hot_again_ca.html
Good to hear we have no intention of trading him to the Knicks. Regardless, let's think about this logically: Do you REALLY think the Knicks are prepared to fork over one of their key assets they plan on using to get Carmelo Anthony....for Aaron Brooks? C'mon now.
Yeah, let's reward this a-hole with a contract in the off-season. No, I'm 99% sure Aaron Brooks will not be wearing Rockets red in the 2011-12 season. He's a cancer and a quitter.
I'm calling bull! I do believe the Rockets are gonna go out of their way to trade Aaron Brooks, maybe not to NY, but they will move him. Look the guy is extremely replaceable, specially via the draft with score 1st PG's like Kemba Walker, Josh Selby, and Brandon Knight all being in our draft range.. So I see no reason to give this jag-off a contract, when we can easily replace him..
When all is said and done, the Nuggets really have no leverage but to either trade Melo for peanuts or just keep him till the end of the season and hope for a sign and trade for worse peanuts. A playoff run could convince Melo to just stay in Denver, who knows. The Nuggets front office made one of the biggest mistakes in roster transactions in the NBA of the past five years. They should have traded Melo to the Nets for Favors and two first round picks. The Knicks inquired about Brooks in order to give them a upgrade backup to Ray Felton off the bench for next to nothing in return. Maybe Mozgoff, Tony Douglas or someone even worse. Who knows. They were trying to capitalize on an ugly situation in Houston and get a quality player at a bargain price. The Knicks now more than are likely assuming the Nuggets screwed themselves in the Melo dealings with NJ and will just hang onto Melo till the offseason and sign and trade him for whatever they were going to get anyways.
You don't sell low though, which essentially is bound to happen if you're 'shopping' a player. Did Brooks make a mistake? Yes. Has he played poorly this season? Yes. But everybody makes mistakes and we all know that Brooks is capable of playing much better. So if there's nothing out there worth trading for, you simply don't trade him.
Well, I don't want to see this thread get derailed with Carmelo speculation. I only brought it up because NY is clearly where he wants to play and the Knicks have limited assets to offer for him in the first place -- let alone after potentially sacrificing one of those assets for Aaron Brooks. The point is they're not going to do anything to undermine their chances at completing the Carmelo deal.
I think this is a little harsh. Brooks is still young and is very frustrated right now. He's never been in this situation where he wasn't "the guy" and obviously he's not handling it well, but that doesn't make him a "cancer and a quitter".
Yeah, I'm sure Morey put out the word, "We aren't going to trade him, repeat that to yourselves, repeat that to the media", to everyone in the organization. Of course they're gonna trade him. But you have to bring his value back up.
Yeah, there's no need to defecate all over AB when he's down. We've all seen how great he can be. Not to excuse his recent play or behavior; but calling him a cancer is harsh. If he's still on our roster beyond Feb 24, we should still root for him. If I were Adelman, right now, I wouldn't play him. See: our W last night.
History has proven that when a player on this team rebel's, he's gone. I think AB's last days as a Rocket are here. Morey should have traded him sooner, before our hand was "forced". He's overrated as it is and his trade value is getting lower by the day because of his self-centered 'tude.
I think is AB is gonna be trade but to a team no one expects. Kind of how we ended up getting Kmart last year.
True. AB has a good game and people are like YEAH!! What everyone seems to always forget is AB is and always has been inconsistent. He will never be like a K-Mart or Scola. Players you can count on to score night in and night out. Because of his inconsistency, he has become a liability when he is on the court. As we all have seen, AB is not really needed to win. A dime a dozen.
