11/12 The actual rate of unemployment is closer to 15-20% since they don't even factor in workers who have given up looking for work. Other than Clutchfans, I get all my news from Der Spiegel, Al Jazeera and the Financial Times.
12/12 Amazing how so many people on CF score in the 90%+ of adults. The results are scary though and the numbers only reinforce the notion that Americans, on average, have become too stupid/ignorant.
Got 11/12, and I'll admit the only reason why I even knew about the political questions was from watching Colbert (which helped with question 11). Got the filibuster question wrong.
Only the ones who visit this section which I'm sure are more interested in politics and current events than the average poster.
You're probably giving the average American too much credit if you think he's only recently become stupid/ignorant.
Got 11/12 and I barely pay attention to current events. Missed the Republican Vote on the Health Care Bill question.
12/12 and didn't guess. I thought it was pretty easy, although I could see someone missing a question like "Who's the head of the RNC?" if they didn't pay a lot of attention to politics. These were all "front page" questions, questions that could be answered, in my opinion, if folks just read the front page of the paper every day. Not too surprising, Moes. With all the bellowing about "bipartisanship," that a person would assume at least one Republican would vote for the bill is understandable.
10/12 Missed the fatalities and Dow questions. My regular sources of news are Comedy Central and D&D.
Comedy Central in the person of Jon Stewart is a great news source, a place where you'll often see stories that aren't covered anywhere else. Funny? Sure, but some serious news is there for those who pay attention. (we've got some new smilies! )
It's moreso apathy rather than stupidity. Many people do not care to know every single detail about the government they live under.
