Horrible call (reputation call?) by NBA ref. Battier clearly wasn't set when Odom drove to the basket.
Bang Bang play sometimes you get some sometimes you don't. Lakers have gotten some calls go their way at their building. It is the NBA those things happen in a game. I am just glad the call went to the good guys.
http://lakers.freedomblogging.com/2009/05/10/odom-describes-back-spasms-at/16571/ Odom questionable with a McGrady.
It was a good call, if you watch the replay. Battier was very quick to get to the spot and had his feet set.
No, his whole body was stationary when Odom crashed into him. Go watch it again. At first I thought it was a block too, but replay showed otherwise.
You and I must have been watching different plays then. If anything, Yao had a lot more legitimacy in his attempt to draw a charge from Rudy Fernandez in the Portland game than Batter did against Odom, but Yao was whistled for a blocking foul.
shane was definitely there before contact was made. odom made the mistake of getting cute and jumping early, only to find battier waiting for him underneath him. good call.
thank god it was called a charge, if it was block, i wouldnt rule the refs overreacting and calling flagrant because of how he fell.
i like how shane pulled his legs away before odom could fall on it. if he didnt, there could be another rocket out of the playoffs.
