And don't forget, with the muscle comes a decline in body fat, which would make hypothermia set in even more quickly than on a "normal" person...
You may have been right to begin with. The survivor may have said they let go after a few hours, but his time perception was probably distorted by the time they rescued him. At that point he could have been totally confused.
In situations such as this, the line between life and death is sometimes extremely thin. Its the little things that usually kill you. The survivor perhaps ate a better breakfast, perhaps he didn't drink any beer(if it was there)...all that adds up.
A man identified by the U.S. Coast Guard as Nick Schuyler sits atop an overturned boat before he was rescued from the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, off the coast of St. Petersburg, Florida March 2, 2009. The U.S. Coast Guard rescued Schuyler on Monday, one of four boaters missing in the Gulf of Mexico since Saturday, and continued the search for two National Football League players and another man Imagine being in that situation.
looking at that picture, it looks like only one person can sit on top and survive realistically.. maybe they all fought for that position and Nick basically "won"..
Yeah, that's likely it. He decided he wouldn't move so he fought off three men in a rough sea in order to stay on the boat and survive. He did that because that's how he rolls. Or maybe not.
I heard an unconfirmed report that he had injuries to his chest and thighs because he kept falling off and had to claw and scramble back up every time. The thing kept him scratching and clawing his way back up on the boat was that he didn't want his mother to have to attend a funeral. I wonder if he was the smallest guy...easier to crawl back up perhaps.
ummm...imagine trying to sit on top of that with huge waves crashing down on you the entire time...I doubt anyone could hang onto the engine...he probably could once the seas died down
They had a chance of being here today if they had a beacon. What a shame that something terrible has to happen before people change their ways. http://www.freep.com/article/20090305/SPORTS10/903050391/1058/Beacons+can+aid+in+rescue
